The Book Wielder Diary. The Epic Saga of the Publishing of My Epic Saga. Being a novice to the book publishing industry, I've decided to keep an online diary of the publishing and promotional process as it unfolds for my first novel. I'll talk about all the stuff I do, how well it works out (or how miserably it fails), what resources I use, and what (if anything) useful I learn along the way. Friday, October 23, 2015. Jim Hardison: July 2015
http://jimhardison.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 24, 2015. Tagline Two Takes the Lead. After dozens of people weighed in on Facebook about which tagline they preferred for Fish Wielder. The clear audience favorite is tagline two:. Fish Wielder is an epically silly epic fantasy, like Lord of the Rings. Set in Narnia if it had been written by the Monty Python troupe working with the band They Might Be Giants.". So, that will be the one I recommend to my publisher, Fiery Seas. Thanks to everyone who weighed in with their thoughts! The Brother...

The Helm Blog: July 2015
http://thehelmcomic.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 24, 2015. I'm tempted to post tests of the animation here, but it feels like that would spoil the surprise. In the meanwhile, I've posted these design sketches Joel did to translate Mathew from comic book illustration to 2-D animated character. We decided early on that we shouldn't try to duplicate the awesomely detailed art of Bart Sears and Randy Elliott, but should instead take it in a more animation-friendly direction that would best capture the sense of humor of the story. The Helm Blog: Animated Helm
http://thehelmcomic.blogspot.com/2015/07/animated-helm.html
Thursday, July 23, 2015. Another quick tidbit is that I've been talking with Randy Elliott (he did the finishes on The Helm graphic novel) and he's playing around with the possibility of doing some Helm-based illustrations with me! Randy's art is beautiful and it will be awesome to continue Mathew's adventures in a comics format. In non-Helm news, I recently completed the manuscript for a fantasy novel called Fish Wielder. If you are so inclined. Thanks for dropping by! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Jim Hardison: The Quest for the Perfect Tagline
http://jimhardison.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-quest-for-perfect-tagline.html
Thursday, July 23, 2015. The Quest for the Perfect Tagline. So, I'm trying to figure out the perfect tagline for Fish Wielder,. And I could use your help. I've had a little experience writing taglines before for movies, TV shows and even comic books, but I hadn't realized I needed one for my book until the awesome folks at Fiery Seas Publishing. Sent me their production package which asked for my tagline. Is a bit like Lord of the Rings. Set in Narnia if it had been written by the Monty Python troupe.
