Pastor Dress Code? | Joseph Yoo

Thoughts on Faith and Life and everything in between, like Batman. Follow Joseph Yoo on WordPress.com. Do you feel that a pastor should be wearing a suit and tie (or formal attire) when s/he is preaching? My dad and I got into this discussion before he left for speaking engagements in Korea. I told him that I personally don’t mind seeing a pastor in jeans, even, and preaching the gospel. My parents completely disagreed. They feel that a suit and tie for a pastor is absolutely necessary. I wear a baseball...

Not really that angry. And oh, in my haste, I tend to make quite a bit of grammatical mistakes. Feel free to correct me. Leave one →. November 2, 2010 1:50 pm. As in Amitabh Bachchan? November 2, 2010 3:34 pm. Lol, well ,not exactly. I had honestly not thought of that. It’s just something one of my dad’s friend used to call me when I was little. November 2, 2010 4:12 pm. Nike's Psyche: March 2007
http://vicssanguinethoughts.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html
An outlet for my peaceful ponderings with, perhaps, the occasional rant. Friday, March 23, 2007. I finally took the time to see the long (nearly three hours) but fascinating movie, "Zodiac." Ever since I first started seeing the previews for this movie, I knew I wanted to see it. Why? Because in 1969, at the height of the Zodiac killings, I lived in Vallejo, California. My older sister, Laurie remembers having nightmares. Posted by Victoria @ 7:10 PM. Tuesday, March 13, 2007. Thirty years later, I find m...

An outlet for my peaceful ponderings with, perhaps, the occasional rant. Friday, August 25, 2006. Back to School Friday Five. My late mother-in-law thought of September as the real" New Year because of the number of programs and classes starting. By Labor Day, school is back in session for most of us in the U.S., although there is great variation by region (my children don't return until Sept. 7th! To mark this, we bring you the Back to School Friday Five.". 1 What is your earliest memory of school?

Tuesday, May 08, 2007. CERTIFIED CANDIDATE YOU ARE.". Last Thursday I met with our Jedi Council, the Nashville District Committee on Ordained Ministry. As of Thursday I am now a certified candidate. It was a very good meeting (much better than the meeting in the fall). So now I am waiting to be in touch with my DS to see if I will be able to be appointed to Hermitage UMC (my current church where I am on staff as the youth and young adult pastor) as a licensed local pastor. Nice image bro. congrats! I kno...

An outlet for my peaceful ponderings with, perhaps, the occasional rant. Monday, May 14, 2007. I was given the most wonderful surprise for Mother's Day. After church, my daughter took me on a treasure hunt for 16 "gifts," one for each year I've been a mother. She chauffeured me around in her new car and things went well until we reached the Waterfront Park in Saint Marys. The gift, which she had set out that very morning, had disappeared. Fortunately, this gift was where she had placed it (and the clue h...

An outlet for my peaceful ponderings with, perhaps, the occasional rant. Thursday, June 29, 2006. Pisces Rising (cont.). I’m lucky, really. I have, in the past 45 years, met a considerable number of children who were named for the place in which they were conceived. Mostly city names like Dallas or Bryce. Doesn’t seem to matter if they were male or female. Why, on God’s Green Earth, would you name your child after its place of conception? The funny thing is that when I was thinking of being named about w...

An outlet for my peaceful ponderings with, perhaps, the occasional rant. Monday, February 26, 2007. Saint Francis Marrying Poverty by Andrea Sacchi, 1633. A couple of weekends ago, I drove up to the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers to take part in a day-long retreat with my fellow Georgia Franciscans. We spent a good part of the day relating our favorite tales of Saint Francis. We Seem to Think. I met her on the Umbrian hills,. Her hair unbound, her feet unshod;. As one whom secret glory fills.

An outlet for my peaceful ponderings with, perhaps, the occasional rant. Friday, November 17, 2006. For some reason it is comforting to know that corruption is a human condition and not actually associated with spiritual "ideals." As Homer Simpson once said while flipping through the Bible, "Everyone in here is a sinner. Oh, except for that guy.". Humans inability to control their desires seems to increase in proportion to how vehemently they repudiate them. Me thinks thou dost protest too much! At the g...
