Tuesday, 7 June 2011. Inmate killed at Edmonton Remand Centre. Friday, May 13, 2011. An inmate has been found dead at the Edmonton Remand Centre. Barry Stewart, of Edmonton, was killed Thursday May 12th during an altercation with another inmate. Justin Somers, has been charged with second-degree murder. An autopsy was performed, but the cause of death isn’t being released. A source within the facility claims the victim was stomped on the head 15 times before staff heard a noise and went to investigate.
