John Arthur - Jimmy Wright Artist
http://www.jimmywrightartist.com/essays/john-arthur
Several of the large drawings of sunflowers are rendered with oil based lithographic crayons. In these, Wright’s vigorous curvilinear line converts the dry petals, bud case, and withering foliage into anthropomorphic, Art Nouveau abstractions reminiscent of Karl Blossfeldt’s totemic photographs of plants and Louis Sullivan’s elaborate, leafy reliefs. The latter most likely would have left a lingering impression from Jimmy Wright’s years in Chicago.

http://dhacker.blogspot.com/2008/07/yellow-flower-blossom.html
Tuesday, July 29, 2008. The cool breezes off of the Pacific Ocean create great conditions for gardens to flourish in the NW. Here is a sample of simple, natural beauty found there in abundance. July 29, 2008 at 8:32 PM. I love your blog and beautiful pictures. You have your grandmom's painting gift. How special is that. I really enjoyed seeing all your pictures and reading your commentary. I especially enjoyed the peach story. Love, Kathy. August 11, 2008 at 7:16 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Donna Hacker: Connecting Through Calligraphy
http://dhacker.blogspot.com/2011/10/connecting-through-calligraphy.html
Saturday, October 8, 2011. This year my husband, father-in-law, and I were making final plans to go Italy in May, and Bologna was purposefully included in our itinerary. There were three main reasons I wanted to go to Bologna. My main goal was to see if the Emilia-Romagna region truly had the best food in all of Italy as I had read. Now that is the subject for a much longer discussion! But do you want me to tell you how much FUN it was being in Barbara’s brush lettering class? Although most of the class ...

Donna Hacker: HOPE is
http://dhacker.blogspot.com/2011/08/hope-is.html
Saturday, August 13, 2011. HOPE IS the name of this angel. . .one of my new flying friends asked me to post some of my art. This is an angel I painted with acrylics on a block of wood left over from our remodel project. Today I decided to use the scanned image of it and paint over the words in Photoshop to give her a bright dress and to make the image more ethereal. August 14, 2011 at 4:34 PM. I sure appreciate your positive feedback! August 16, 2011 at 7:02 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Donna Hacker: Back to Italy
http://dhacker.blogspot.com/2011/05/back-to-italy.html
Tuesday, May 17, 2011. Back to Italy this month with the Hacker men (husband and father-in-law) because we loved it so much here two years ago. We flew into Rome from Chicago, and headed out in our rental car with my husband driving to Spoleto for 3 nights at the Palazzo Leti whose garden is pictured above. It's a very nice beginning to what I know will be a great trip! We are on a mountain, overlooking a green valley out our window of this lovely, historic property. I will look for you on FB!
Donna Hacker: Seaside Lily
http://dhacker.blogspot.com/2008/08/seaside-iris.html
Tuesday, August 12, 2008. Bright day lilies I saw in someone's garden in Cannon Beach inspired this fabric art piece. An article in Quilting Arts magazine featuring Karin Winter's ( http:/ www.karinwinter.com/apps/blog/. Fabric art work caught my attention afterwards, so I incorporated her approach here with the lily. My new Bernina made this project a whole lot of fun! Thank goodness for all of those wonderful resources online that guided me through the bias binding with mitered edges! One of my Italian...

Jimmy the Scribe
Chronicling my attempts at literary success. Friday, January 20, 2006. Going okay for a change. So, the writing has been going pretty well lately. I have a plot, of sorts, and I've been writing. Things are happening without me really thinking too much, which is great. I've introduced a couple of new characters, who seem to be taking the story in a slightly different, and better, direction. On a slightly less great note, I've discovered that I can't do villains! Wonder what this says about me? Ersum Frost...
