Chestnut Ridge - Jim Pfitzer
http://www.jimpfitzer.com/chestnut-ridge.html
A Standard of Change. This summer I started putting my thoughts on paper. I don't know exactly where it is going, but the more I work, the more excited I become. A couple weeks ago, I was asked to share a little bit of what I had at the River City Sessions. Radio Show in Chattanooga. This rough piece is my vision, thus far, of the beginning of the story bearing the working title:. Moonshine on Chestnut Ridge. I'd love for you to give it a listen, and let me know what you think. Thanks!

About Aldo Leopold - Aldo Leopold - A Standard of Change
http://www.astandardofchange.com/aldo.html
Aldo Leopold - A Standard of Change. Aldo Leopold was a conservationist, forester, philosopher, educator, writer, and outdoor enthusiast. As a U.S. forester, he was instrumental in the creation of our first federally designated wilderness in the Gila National Forest. In 1935, he and his family initiated an ecological restoration experiment on a worn-out farm along the Wisconsin River outside of Baraboo, Wisconsin where they planted thousands of pine trees, and restored prairies. A Sand County Almanac.
Reviews of A Standard of Change - Aldo Leopold - A Standard of Change
http://www.astandardofchange.com/reviews.html
Aldo Leopold - A Standard of Change. Jim Pfitzer’s portrayal of Aldo Leopold in A Standard of Change was truly top notch. The audience is large and diverse and Jim was easily our highest rated presenter. I would recommend Jim without hesitation to anyone looking for a highly entertaining conference speaker to deliver the conservation messages of Aldo Leopold in a bold and unique way. He captured the spirit of Aldo Leopold and did an exceptional job engaging with our staff.". A moving portrayal.". We've s...
Bonnaroo Morning – paying attention
https://jimpfitzer.wordpress.com/2014/06/23/bonnaroo-morning
Writings and Photos from a Naturecentric Storyteller. Showtime was looming a little over an hour-and-a-half ahead, and my hat was nowhere to be found. I turned to Sarah, my assistant for the morning. Have you seen my hat? It was hanging on the nail by the window. 8230;yesterday… sometime. It’s not there now. Sean, who was there to help set up the tent, wasted no time. There is a hat vendor not far away, I’ll see what he has. I’ll check next door, Sarah offered. And good morning to you… The words ba...

https://jimpfitzer.wordpress.com/2014/08/21/why-i-did-not-miss-facebook-one-bit-and-why-i-went-back-in-just-a-few-hours-anyway
Writings and Photos from a Naturecentric Storyteller. Why I Did Not Miss Facebook One Bit, and Why I Went Back in Just a Few Hours Anyway. It took one day. That is all it took. In fact it was really just a few hours before I realized that I do not miss it one stinking little bit. I awoke this morning, started my grits, poured a glass of milk, checked my email, took a shower, and never even thought about it. During my breakfast, I did not miss the How Well Do You Know Beatles Lyrics? I made the decision a...
A Finch, An Oil Lamp, and A Little Ice Road Truckin’ – paying attention
https://jimpfitzer.wordpress.com/2015/02/24/an-odd-house-finch-a-lamplight-performance-and-a-little-ice-road-truckin
Writings and Photos from a Naturecentric Storyteller. A Finch, An Oil Lamp, and A Little Ice Road Truckin’. Five days after a near miss with ice and snow in Northwest Georgia, winter weather followed me across the country last week to the High Plains Snow Goose Fesitval. All of these species are common in the Southeast, of course, but while the Coloradans in the group oohed over the lone female cardinal, we caught a brief, fleeting glance at a little songbird flashing yellow on its throat as it disappear...

Writings and Photos from a Naturecentric Storyteller. Seeing Red in the River Gorge. On the north sides of the buildings snow persists from a weekend dusting, a fragile sheet of ice covers the pond, and the sun still lingers low as we pass by. The tilt is shifting, though, and these days of crisp, cool, clarity are numbered. Deer browsing near the grape vines. It would be easy to say I. Sedges have edges we reminded ourselves, exploring the flora of the bullfrog world, before moving on. My companion told...
In Praise of Dandelions – paying attention
https://jimpfitzer.wordpress.com/2015/04/14/in-praise-of-dandelions
Writings and Photos from a Naturecentric Storyteller. In Praise of Dandelions. It is three weeks into spring and in spite of the colors on my field guide maps, the migratory pine siskins have not moved north to Canada. Neither have the more often heard than seen white-throated sparrows, and while the adult pairs of purple finches who so enjoy the black oil sunflower seed I provide for their breakfasts have gone on, one juvenile still remains. A friend once told me that everyone has a nemesis. While I...
Spring – paying attention
https://jimpfitzer.wordpress.com/2015/04/01/spring
Writings and Photos from a Naturecentric Storyteller. Back in the kitchen, something spooks the mixed flock and no sooner than they dispersed, the song sparrow slipped in silently to take her place to dine alone among the scattered mixed seed beneath the feeders…. for a moment. Local Food Letters: Sorrel Jam
http://annsfoodletters.blogspot.com/2012/11/sorrel-jam.html
Friday, November 2, 2012. As I promised, here's the sorrel jam "recipe". Since I made this after making jelly. Once I had just petals, I added sugar to taste (a lot). I'd say about 1/2 cup per cup of sorrel, but I didn't measure. I just stirred it in until it tasted pretty sweet, but with a tiny bit of tart. Process the jars the same way I did with the jelly. Posted by Ann Tindell Keener. Sorrel jelly and jam. Your posting was quite the inspiration. November 25, 2012 at 1:43 PM. View my complete profile.

Wise is the man who contents himself with the spectacle of the world.". I am committed to the practice of working from life. I seek to capture the integrity of experience through seeing. Without nature there is no conversation. For me painting is a physical manifestation of the act of seeing-. A manifestation capable of deep emotion.
