Thoughts on Design by R O K O S. The Table That Can Tell Stories And Other Contraptions. Giving a building a human trait is seen in ‘Breathing House’. An art gallery. However I am attempting to thread every idea in the work together because Tom was trained at the Royal College of Art as a designer. And in design art. Where the art is designed. 8220;The pens that work best are the ones that really glide.” (It is easier to hold still, so the letters appear more clearly.). For a moment, I am unfamiliar with...

Thoughts on Design by R O K O S. This project connects visitors to Bruhl's Terrace (Dresden, Germany), to the air raid on 13th February 1945, by means of transmitting the sound of air planes to the visitors ear, through the visitors bones, made possible by the body posture that the visitors naturally make, when looking out across the river. This body posture is reminiscent of that made by people protecting themselves. Touched Echo by Markus Kison. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). London, United Kingdom.

Thoughts on Design by R O K O S. The Ice Bear Project. Artist Mark Coreth sculpts animals. To create ice bear, he cast the form of a polar bear skeleton and submerged it in a tank of water. This was frozen. With razor sharp tools, he carved out the bear. Now the work is melting, in Trafalgar Square. The thickness of the block was that of the ice in the Arctic. The piece represents mankind's acceleration of global warming and illustrates how the bear's habitat is disappearing. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Thoughts on Design by R O K O S. Wind Knitting Factory, 2009. Merel Karhof's machine is wind powered and knits scarves. Good idea if it is very windy. The Idea of a Tree, 2008. Big Dipper, 2007. Sarah van Gameren's machine makes candles. This making is also a performance, advertising the candles and giving them a story. Sleeping Beauty, 2006. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Thoughts on Design by R O K O S. The Persistent Resistance of Vision by James Baker. The Persistent Resistance of Vision. Sound and image are combined with precision. The use of images is economic (mainly four). The creation of surprise and suspense, more famously associated with the film maker Alfred Hitchcock is mastered. Watch it full screen, high volume and only once. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). London, United Kingdom. We create playful, functional, sculptural products, that behave in unexpected ways.

Thoughts on Design by R O K O S. Jacob Strand has given up his home and his job. On Wednesday 2. June, he began living in and working from a small custom-made caravan that he cycled round London. This new gypsy life was planed for the duration of the summer. When I met with Jacob, next to his caravan, in the park at Queen Square (London WC1N 3AR), a couple of hours prior to his first ‘Casual Conversation’, we wondered what impact Jacob’s new life was having on his own wellbeing? In the caravan, drunks, c...
