You know you’re old when…. The Elderly American Songbook: From Curly Putman and Billy Sherrill →. Bones of Bygone Days. Linen postcard of the pavilion at Lake Wichita, circa 1930s-40s. William Howard Taft was President, Henry Ford sold his 10,000th automobile and Phil Parmelee. Flash forward 100 years and nothing remains of her but old dry bones. Weathered wooden pilings are all that remains today of a once regal, recreational palace. Photo by Jim Miller. Fire destroyed the hotel in 1918. It was neve...

A journal of one writer's continuing education with occasional side trips for sheer tomfoolery. Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Hello, we're back! The Country Club Rat. Ironic, is it not, that the only wildlife encountered during last weekend’s bonfire birthday bash in the wilds of Archer County was a Country Club rat in the middle of Martin Blvd. at 1:46 am? What, exactly, were we doing on Martin Blvd. at quarter-of-two in the morning? Which made its home there.". Dickens, Charles. (1888). Wildlife encount...

Rolling Plains Journal: December 2012
http://rollingplainsjournal.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
The voice of one, crying in the wilderness. Wednesday, December 26, 2012. Silent White, 2012 Closeout. Christmas Day 2012 on the Rolling Plains. The Good Lord blessed us here in North Texas with a quieting blanket of snow for which, I pray, I am truly thankful. Beginning as freezing rain and sleet Christmas morning, just as first light began to penetrate the pale, bluish gray overcast, it quickly turned to fat, moisture-laden flakes of snow drifting silently as confectioner's sugar. Thank you, Lord!

Having been assigned the number NINE by California cousin-in-law Mary, here's my list. No doubt you know the rule; If you "like", I will assign a number to you, too. Have not finished that g* d* * degree! 8 Once cut my hair (blunt-nosed scissors) in the style of then President Ike Eisenhower. It was all about horses. 4 If you really. I even ...

Is it just me, or has March come listlessly in like a lamb on Librium? These past few days have been like moving through cold molasses both mentally and physically. The month started off fine. HATE LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX.
