Wednesday, November 5, 2008. We can use a differential equation to model the growth of two interacting populations, a situation which requires a system of two differential equations. The plane which shows the combinition of the population of two species is called The Phase Plane and the path of the point is called the phase trjectory. I don't really understand why the number of encounters is likely to be proportional to the product of the opulations. Why is the product of these two species?
