Sair's Place: August 2011
http://sairsplace.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 23, 2011. I have not abandoned my quilt making plans. I have come to realize that it will not be completed by the end of the summer. Maybe it's not the best summer project - standing in a hot room cutting and ironing fabrics was not always my idea of a good time. But now that it is getting cooler I am sure I will be visiting this project more often. Here's some of what I have so far:. With lots more squares to cut out and assemble! You can find it here. This was very tasty! All items exce...

Sair's Place: June 2012
http://sairsplace.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 17, 2012. Every year, my friend Rebecca and I put on a recital to showcase our students. We typically give the kids a small gift - goodie bags, certificates, things like that. Rebecca really wanted to get away from giving out candy and had the idea of tote bags. I thought it would be nice to personalize them for each student and here's how I did it. I got the plain tote bags from BlankApparel.com. I used Tulip Soft Fabric Paint (matte). In total, I decorated 18 of these! It's something the k...

Sair's Place: December 2012
http://sairsplace.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 27, 2012. A couple of Christmas crafty things. I got these scalloped, flat cards, and coordinating envelopes at Staples on clearance. I dressed them up with a couple of stamps and they made great thank you notes. I like the slightly vintage feel of the font and the candy cane! I wrapped a gift for little Alex with plain craft paper, and decorated with washi tape. My mom and I created this wreath for her to give as a gift to her pink-loving friend. Not my taste, but fun!

Sair's Place: Bridal Shower Cupcakes
http://sairsplace.blogspot.com/2012/08/bridal-shower-cupcakes.html
Wednesday, August 29, 2012. I made the cupcakes for Kaitlin's bridal shower. I had so much fun trying out recipes and making the accompanying decorations. I decided on two flavors: Pistachio and Snickerdoodle. They were both cake mix based, which made my life easier! The recipe for the pistachio cupcakes with chococlate buttercream can be found here at Your Cup of Cake. And here is the recipe for the Snickerdoodle cupcakes with cinnamon buttercream (these were my favorites):. Stamps in "Love Birds".

Look happy, but is it an illusion? To get used to. Like slavery and camel racing. And so I made the decision not to attend the local camel races so as not to support a sport that depended on child slaves to exist. Sair's Place: April 2011
http://sairsplace.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 10, 2011. Finally, a meal worth blogging about. We had steak, homemade mac n cheese, and broccoli. I have never prepared steak before and I decided on an easy rub found here. I didn't have any ancho chili powder on hand, or salt free seasoning blend. I threw in some Old Bay seasoning to make up for it. The steak came out really well. It was quite zippy and flavorful. My mac n cheese is pretty awesome, if I do say so myself. I used a combo of cheddar and pepper jack cheese. 1 Heat oven to 350.

Losing an anchor, remembering my grandmother | Turf to Surf

One couple, two cats and a monohull on the move. Losing an anchor, remembering my grandmother. This entry was posted on April 10, 2013, in Dominican Republic. And tagged family death. Grandma and me, hanging out on a Florida beach on a family vacation (1981). But rather than take action and search for flights, for a little while I just sat still and watched a series of nonsequitur vignettes from my grandmother’s life play out from a reel in my mind made up of childhood memories, old photos and stories my...

Wednesday, October 31, 2012. I recently hosted a craft weekend, and Amanda had the idea to create a yarn wreath. Kristi joined in on the fun, and I bought all the supplies but didn't jump right in. I wanted to. Amanda ran into some difficulties with her crappy yarn. Kristi had a much smoother time. Here is Kristi with her finished project! After much tying and untangling, Amanda got her whole wreath covered. Here's her final project:. Finally, this past weekend I was ready! I also added these rosettes.
