Program, News and Events. Rug Hooking Tips and Tricks. Rug Hooking Terms and Handy Tricks from A to Z. An Awl is a handy screwdriver type tool that can be purchased at a hardware store. It is great to even our your work if necessary. Means to find it and finish it. Noodles are also sometimes called "worms". Use two heavy magnets (one for the front and one for the back of your work) to hold your scissors nearby for easy use. The spaces in between your rows where burlap or linen is exposed on the back.
