I hope I never lose my sense of wonder. If that makes me naive, then so be it. Wednesday, 11 June 2014. Busy days at the farm. Field garden #1 mostly planted, seedlings poking up and transplants settling in. Field garden #2 (I know, not very original) has its rows of potatoes planted and shoots now visible, and this morning I added some corn and more squash ahead of an expected heavy rainfall. Chicks, all 77 birds, are growing and two weeks from slaughter date; hens laying well. Please don't sting me.

Saturday, June 27, 2009. So we had a bit of a road trip today- went down to Peterborough for a couple of hours. (all the locals are thinking "a 3 hour drive each way for a 2.5 hour visit? Our social worker from South Africa was up for a visit and we very much wanted the chance to see her. Besides, I figure that she had to come way farther than we did, and it was a lovely day for a drive. Great to see her again. Wednesday, June 24, 2009. Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Not a lot to do. If only I could be sure tha...

Thursday, September 20, 2007. Feeling the need to blog. I don't know what I am going to type about this morning, but everyone seems to be missing my blogs. Never thought they were particularly interesting. house progress, talking about my boring life. So here we go again. Hubby not good. He threw out his back two days ago putting on his shoe of all things, and hasn't been the same since. Taking the whole rest of the week off work(the one time that it's cruddy to be self employed- no sick days). The only ...

Saturday, December 22, 2007. Well, my boys are sitting at the school desk anxiously awaiting my company to draw Christmas trees. I guess the rest of the housework can wait. And doing the church service for tomorrow. And my reading up on adoption. And. oh, nevermind. Wednesday, December 19, 2007. But the wheels are rolling anyway. So that`s the latest in my life. Oh, and Christmas baking and Christmas wrapping and Christmas shopping and trying to fit some school in this week. (Not being entirely s...The o...

Monday, January 14, 2008. All this time leaves me pondering the big questions of life. What does one renovate when one lives in a brand new house? And a soon to arrive eliptical. The next step is actual walls and a floor. I just don't know where the walls are going any more. And now that we're adopting, we don't have the money to do the whole thing anymore- ah yes, back to life on a budget. Meeting is done- gotta go. Saturday, January 12, 2008. Thursday, January 10, 2008. Movies to never watch. I love Ch...

Wednesday, October 31, 2007. Then this evening, of course, is trick-or-treating. Maybe we'll take the dog with us- that'd be fun. After a supper with mom and dad whenever they get here. Another non-stop day. But it's nice and sunny, and will be warm sooner or later. Tuesday, October 30, 2007. Monday, October 29, 2007. Working 9 to 5. A new software program (OK so I like nerdy gifts) and a Tim Horton's gift card- woohoo! Query: was my mom this busy when us kids were young? Sunday, October 28, 2007. I am a...

I hope I never lose my sense of wonder. If that makes me naive, then so be it. Friday, 14 February 2014. Daring kitchen, february. This month's challenge made my kitchen burst into song. Literally. Spanakopita. When D or the girls asked what I was making and this was my answer, I either got the word put into The Lion King. S "Hakuna Matata" or Iron Butterfly's "In A Gadda Da Vita". Which made for a loud, but fun, cooking experience. Then, another funny step - squeezing handfuls of the mixture to get out ...

I hope I never lose my sense of wonder. If that makes me naive, then so be it. Wednesday, 15 May 2013. Daring cooks, may. Time to wrap stuff up and bake it! Okay, it was a little more involved than that. And yummy, too. Our lovely Monkey Queen of Don’t Make Me Call My Flying Monkeys, was our May Daring Cooks’ hostess and she challenged us to dive into the world of en Croute! We were encouraged to make Beef. Duxelles, take two. The beef for the Wellington is seared on each side, and the meat is left rare&...

Saturday, August 15, 2009. Went to work today, and filled dosettes for 9 hours. It was a fun day though- a quiet one at the store, and had some great laughs with L and J while we all worked. Filled 37 dosettes, which translates to a few hundred prescriptions. An new record for me. Friday, August 14, 2009. Tuesday, August 11, 2009. A day (or two) in the life. 8:15 am - leave to take W to a friend`s house where he will hitch a ride to B-ball camp. Leave for CHEO with K. 3:15 pm- drive to the Beer store to ...

I hope I never lose my sense of wonder. If that makes me naive, then so be it. Monday, 24 June 2013. By way of update, the farm continues to amaze, inspire, and exhaust us. This year's plans involved one thing that is really many things: expansion. I'm happy that this place can not only nurture us, but our friends and people we haven't yet met with a peaceful place and wholesome food. I'm glad I get to share it with the most important people in the world: my family and friends. Link to this post.
