27th, 28th, 29th August 2016. By Lt Colonel Ray Kirby, Salvation Army. A local committee was formed and the Parish made a loan of 500 to launch the project. The late August Bank Holiday weekend was chosen as the time for the fair. At the end of that first event in 1982 the one thousand people who attended over three days had raised enough money, not only to repay the loan but give a further 900 to offset whatever the Diocese of York was asking at that time. 2016 Festival opens in:. 27th, 28th, 29th August 2016. Boat rides at the ski club. Opening procession from the school – 12.45 pm followed by the Official Opening at the Vicarage at 1pm. From 11.30am singer Marcus Thompson. Classic cars: Triumphs plus others. 2-4pm York RI Golden Rail Brass Band. Display of craft competition entries. Children’s steam train ride (behind Gatehouse). Fairground organ (at the wood yard). Classic Car Show organised by the East Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club EYTCC. Exhibition by the Cawood Art Group.
