Morahan: November 2009
http://morahan.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 30, 2009. Around 20% of the UK population has some form of disability, yet only 4.4% of BBC staff are disabled, 2% at ITV, 1.8% at Sky and 1% at Channel 4." According to the article in The Guardian. Surely, a step in the right direction is to have representation in the media for all areas of the population. This should also take into account the socio-economic backgrounds of all the people and therefore the working population. Is this possible? Can there be fair and equal representation?

Morahan: September 2009
http://morahan.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 29, 2009. My first opportunity for work, teaching in Ireland, has come and passed. This is not a bad thing although it would have been better if it came and stayed. I look on the "job" of finding a job in teaching media as a process. This process, like everything else, is fodder for analysis, criticism, reflection and learning. I was delighted to be given the opportunity to offer a night class at the Carrowbeg College of Further Education in Westport. I attended the night of registrati...

Morahan: There are times when...
http://morahan.blogspot.com/2010/01/there-are-times-when.html
Sunday, January 24, 2010. There are times when. Here are some shots of what I was a part of today. Does the media fit into every facet of our lives? There are times when I realise the fleeting moment that is this life. Engaged in some research for an article about Granuaile today, I found myself at Murrisk Abbey. The calm quiet of the setting was accented by my recent reading of The Power of Now. I love discussing the media but now and again the noise that is the media and the discussion needs to be reso...

Morahan: Leonard Cohen in Lissadell House, Sligo
http://morahan.blogspot.com/2010/08/leonard-cohen-in-lissadell-house-sligo.html
Friday, August 6, 2010. Leonard Cohen in Lissadell House, Sligo. 8220;The curate has called this exhibition. I call my work. Acceptable Decorations.” (Leonard Cohen). I have, in the past, fallen into the group that would refer to Leonard Cohen as depressing. But after spending three and a half hours at Lissadell House watching and listening to him, his band and an audience of 10,000, I see him in a very different light. The backdrop to the stage was a simple curtain with two hearts entwined in each other...

Morahan: March 2010
http://morahan.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 25, 2010. Old Media/New Media - What? When I studied at USF in San Francisco, Professor Andrew Goodwin was always a challenging facilitator. His style of lecturing is something I have aspired to. His planning and his delivery were always very very professional and well thought out and delivered. Therefore I have kept in touch with him virtually. I see today his blog on New/Old media. Why this topic is not being discussed and evaluated as he has done HERE. As he drank a "simple" cup of cof...

Thursday, January 06, 2011. 25 Things I Learned How to Do in 2010. In my ongoing effort to impress you with my skills, I picked up a few new ones last year. I now know how to:. Find my way around Austin. Use an espresso machine. Drive a stick shift (almost… I need to practice a bit more). Identify three new wines based on their smell, taste, and appearance (vermentino, picpoul blank, tannat). Fold an origami tree ornament. Properly use the phrase "y'all" (including the plural and possessive forms). This ...

As reviewers, is this our motto? It started at 13, but it grows. I do not have a Unified Field Theory. Of Reviewing, but I work in that direction. We are up to 52 insights. Shiny Things: immigration
http://amberinprogress.blogspot.com/2009/08/immigration.html
Friday, August 7, 2009. It's always easier to feel passionate about something when it directly affects you or someone you care about. The harshness of the immigration system is much clearer when you know the people whose lives are being disrupted and destroyed by it. When you hear abstract talk of immigration reform, remember that these are real people whose fates are being discussed, and we need to do something so that the human rights and dignity of every person are respected.
