Visible in the lower left is the Pacific Crest/John Muir Trail as it desecnds from 11, 955ft Muir Pass. Visible is Helen Lake. This is the headwaters of the Middle Fork of the Kings River. It's 10 miles to the bottom of the canyon (about 8,000 ft) where the trail starts back up the other side. You arrive at Mather Pass after another 11 miles at 12,100 ft.
