Llona's 2003 John Muir Trail Gear List. It is so pretty. North Face Windstorm 35 deg. 1/4" Black dense foam. Can ventilate without sunburn. Men's long sleeve silk. Cool as outerwear, warm as inner layer. Perfect - for sleep also. The most supportive for my foot shape. Helps with high altitude glare. Warm - has detachable hood. Waterproof/breathable - snags easily - but works! Efective - humans respond. Draws poison from stings or bites. Tylenol, Sewing. etc. To save sanity - also doubles as stuff sack.

John Muir Trail 2003 Gear List. G V P Gear G -5. Used G4 after Kings Canyon (16 oz.). 4 Section Z Rest. Hennessy Ultralight Backpacker Asymmetrical. Sometimes used on ground. Added Integral Designs liner at Mammoth Lakes ( not needed if use fleece top) (28 oz.). 3/8" Blue Foam - 48" long. Replaced with 72" Z Rest at Mammoth Lakes (11.4 oz.). Space blanket bottom with 1/4" foam sides. Not needed if use fleece top. Slumberjack poly camp pillow. For pack, lunch breaks, etc. Lasted over 260 miles.

2003 John Muir Trail Backpack. This is a belated. Written July 3rd 2005) description of our 2003 John Muir Trail hike. As it has been two years since the trip it's not as fresh in my mind as I would wish, but here goes! Needless to say I slept poorly that night. The next morning we began our adventure on the Muir Trail by catching the shuttle bus to our trailhead where we started hiking.
