Ben Oliver (is alive): Two fringes enter, one fringe leaves
http://benoliverisalive.blogspot.com/2008/06/two-fringes-enter-one-fringe-leaves.html
Ben Oliver (is alive). Wednesday, 18 June 2008. Two fringes enter, one fringe leaves. I’m watching Fringe. JJ Abrams latest attempt to mystify. Like all things, there are patterns if you look hard, or should that be, obsessively enough. My girlfriend got a fringe for her degree show, (shameless plug 1. I don't know why, but that makes it sound like she contracted a disease. I’ll write a 140 character review via twitter here. Just to make it more interesting. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Ben Oliver (is alive): Lynette Wallworth, Hold: Vessel 2
http://benoliverisalive.blogspot.com/2007/09/lynette-wallworth-hold-vessel-2.html
Ben Oliver (is alive). Sunday, 2 September 2007. Lynette Wallworth, Hold: Vessel 2. Lynette Wallworth (never heard of her before but we've already established I’m a philistine. Makes hypnotising images ‘fall’ from projectors placed in the ceiling which you or I ‘catch’ in ceramic bowls that are given at the entrance of the installation. I’ve decided I like installations that completely submerge you in an extreme environmental space. I.e. Anthony Gormley’s Blind Light. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Ben Oliver (is alive): Five different 'creative' work phases
http://benoliverisalive.blogspot.com/2008/01/five-different-creative-work-phases.html
Ben Oliver (is alive). Monday, 28 January 2008. Five different 'creative' work phases. I went to see Martin Orton of Bold Creative. They do dem tings wiv da yoot. We got to talking and he disclosed to me the theory of the ‘five different work phases.’ Despite sounding like a long lost martial art it works like this:. 1) The first stage of your working life revolves around people paying you purely for your time, i.e. low skilled, Mcjobs. Awww crap. i know where i am then. 28 January 2008 at 17:35. Subscri...

Ben Oliver (is alive): StumbleUpon worse than crack
http://benoliverisalive.blogspot.com/2008/01/stumbleupon-worse-than-crack.html
Ben Oliver (is alive). Thursday, 31 January 2008. StumbleUpon worse than crack. The StumbleUpon plug-in has breathed new life into my web exploring but it might end up destroying my 'real' life. Where texting cost you money and fingernails, prolonged Facebook use. Made you sad and playing games for too long. Fingers, sanity and relationships, real ones, deteriorate, StumbleUpon has no obvious, discernable drawbacks.yet. 18 March 2008 at 17:16. Thank you Dr, how's the NHS treating you these days?

Ben Oliver (is alive): Story driven: MMOs versus single player
http://benoliverisalive.blogspot.com/2007/10/story-driven-mmoa-versus-single-player.html
Ben Oliver (is alive). Tuesday, 30 October 2007. Story driven: MMOs versus single player. What’s jarring to my irrational need for conclusion, is the idea of ‘respawning.’ It’s an essential game mechanic in MMOs that allows all players to attempt to kill the same end of dungeon boss or pick up object a) and take it to place b) but because of this very mechanic there can never be a sense of completion. Come back to us. multiplayer style. 23 December 2007 at 04:32. 6 February 2008 at 13:35. Let me feed you.

http://benoliverisalive.blogspot.com/2008/03/double-agent-at-ica.html
Ben Oliver (is alive). Friday, 7 March 2008. Double Agent at the ICA. The other piece of note is Artur Zmijewski’s video, ‘Them.’ Zmijewski organises a paint workshop to which he invites four groups: Christians, Jews, Young Socialists and Polish nationalists, who are then encouraged to respond to each group’s symbolic depiction of its values. Double Agent runs till the 6th of April. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Five creative work phases. The Old Ones and me. StumbleUpon worse than crack. A brief h...

Ben Oliver (is alive). Wednesday, 27 February 2008. Producers of content and I. Meeting the creator of something you enjoy is great. The first time it happened to me was during my raving days at Peach (at the Camden Palace). I have such a vivid(ish) memory of listening to Graham Gold, Pete Tong, Judge Jules or someone else with an equally stupid name, play choons. Over the radio that would feature later that Friday evening. And more. So what? People send fan mail all the time. Yes, but the difference...

Ben Oliver (is alive): Bridge Art Fair London 2007
http://benoliverisalive.blogspot.com/2007/10/bridge-art-fair-london-2007.html
Ben Oliver (is alive). Monday, 15 October 2007. Bridge Art Fair London 2007. Swanky hotel, just off Trafalgar square, which meant dodging the seething tide of tourists all wanting to ride the big lions. Showed our press tickets to the bored attendant and took the lift to the first of five floors of pure artage. I crawled out of the Bridge Art Fair, eyes bleeding and brain pounding. Taking in thousands of images and styles in the space of a couple hours is truly a unique experience. The Old Ones and me.
