April 18, 2014 by angelineschellenberg. Most days, I take my kids to school, and after six hours emailing at the office or puttering around the house, I pick them up, make supper, and put them to bed. At K's middle school awards ceremony today, his homeroom teacher Mrs S called each student to the front and told the assembled parents and teachers something about him or her, using the child's favourite colour or animal as a guide. I'm so pleased to be presenting K with the award for Commendable Achievement in Mathematics.

Most of us communicate for various reasons: break the ice, test the waters, lighten the mood, make an impression. Aspies usually communicate for one reason: to get facts from one head into another. My daughter isn't a talker, but same communication principal applies. If it's not new information, it's not worth saying. Every family h...

I've published a few things about disabilities recently. One was an article about disabilities in the church in the MB Herald. When your children are on the spectrum, you learn to see new colours. You find a pattern amid the disorder; mine is plaid. Saturday, October 27, 2012. Carly's Fiorina's statement (at the Leadership Summit) "There is a gift in everything. We just need to see it" touched something in me. So is it about attitude, or is it circumstance?
