Joce and Joze's Journey. March 16, 2013. A month ago, Joze went with some of the guys on a three day hike close to the village of Douki, which is about an hour drive south of where we live. Hassan Bah, our guide. DAY 1 - 6 hour hike. Preparing to look over the edge. DAY 2 - 9 hour hike (without Joze). Starting to climb the "ladders". DAY 3 - 5 hour hike. One of many waterfalls. We had a layover in another country and because we didn't have our visas yet, we stayed there a few extra days. It gave us a chance to have a breather and to reflect on what had just happened. After our extended layover, we eventually made our way to Niger. Enjoying the beauty of Casa. Team dinner with our leadership. 3 sedan taxis, 9 people x 2 suitcases each = gong show. No, really.today I took a nice big bite then saw a worm meandering through the mango. Thankfully, I hadn't swallowed yet! My great news for the week is that yesterday our passports were delivered back to us, with our visas stamped inside! Thank you to everyone who has been praying for this to happen! It's been interesting getting used to being back for more than a week or two of holiday! First full day in paradise. We arrived in Jamaica yesterday afternoon after a full day of travelling. Both flights were uneventful, and we filled our layover time by watching "The Five Year Engagement". We arrived at our resort at about 4pm and took the "Orientation tour" right away. We then went for dinner and thought we'd get changed in our room and head out to the show. As soon as we reached our room, we conked out in our room! We slept for 17 hours straight, and we don't regret missing the show!

Joce and TEAM/ Yukon Quest 2010. Thursday, March 4, 2010. Yukon Quest - Part two. The race started on the 6 of february, but a few days before the race there was meeting we had to go to. First meeting was for the rookies, talking about what to expect on the race and the rules. Second was the handlers meeting on what they can and cannot do. And third was the mushers meeting, close to the public, they talked about the trail condition, checkpoints, meeting the veterinarians, the race officials, the media etc.
