Stop Electing Buffoons | The Trombonist's Mouthpiece
https://joeguarr.wordpress.com/2014/12/11/stop-electing-buffoons
The Trombonist's Mouthpiece. Music, education, and philosophy. Skip to primary content. December 11, 2014. I know I like to rip on Michigan Governor Rick Snyder a lot. And quite frankly, he deserves a lot of criticism for things like the emergency manager legislation, and the EAA. But, I have to give him credit for standing up to Jase Bolger’s terrible plan. And here’s where my cynical side takes over. This is only a drop in the bucket. Spain is far from the only public school in Detroit with serious problems. I hope Ellen’s gift is just the start of helping Detroit’s schools. I hope the state follows her example, and pledges enough resources to give these ...The sick-outs...

The Trombonist's Mouthpiece. Music, education, and philosophy. Skip to primary content. Why The Outcry Over ClassDojo? November 18, 2014. In the NY Times article, Alfie Kohn argues that ClassDojo bribes students into compliance. Those arguments seem to be making a lot of unfair assumptions about ClassDojo. Is it possible that ClassDojo could be used as a tool to embarrass students? You bet. Could you use it to set up a reward system that bribes students for good behavior? Absolutely. But, odds are so...

March | 2014 | Music Educator Blog
https://martiemutz.wordpress.com/2014/03
A Typical Day In The Life Of A Music Educator. Monthly Archives: March 2014. March 10, 2014. It’s that time of year when I must undergo a teacher evaluation from my administrator during a music class of my choice. Not my favorite thing to do. Does anyone enjoy it? I remember the day when there was a one-page (front only) checklist, and such things as “appropriate dress” and “arrives on time for class” were some of the items that were included on it! Do you receive adequate feedback on what was observed?
