While the shutter bug didn't bite until I moved to Arizona in 2000, it was the photography class I had while attending Collins College that really launched my interest. From there, photography went from a hobby to an obsession, and eventually into a profession. After 2011, with a change in jobs, I pushed photography back to a hobby. Storm Spotter - Joe Lawton

Since 2006, I have been an active, trained weather spotter for the National Weather Service. Reports that I've called in or submitted range from rotating wall clouds to the snow depth at my house. These type of reports help the weather service with ground truth on what the weather is actually doing to assisting in the creation of better models for predicting snowfall. But it wasn't until 2009 when I began actually diving into this unique field.where science meets the unexplainable. After my initial classes on IBM-PCs and BASIC, I got my first computer; a Commodore 64 with 64K RAM and a 5.25 Floppy Drive. A far cry from the MS-DOS and Windows environment, it did give me an appreciation for command line programming fundamentals and a lot of patience! With the constant changes and improvements made in modern Operating Systems, I still come across occasions that still call for things to be written in the original BASIC to perform simple operations. Craziest Project to Date.
