Cure For Boredom: Summer Poem
http://www.cureforboredomiscuriosity.com/2011/05/summer-poem.html
Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Assuming poetry is not a lost art amongst my fellow boredom-crushers, here is one of my favourites. Besides, I'm in a poetic, writing kind of mood. A something in a summer’s Day. As slow her flambeaux burn away. A something in a summer’s noon —. A depth — an Azure — a perfume —. And still within a summer’s night. A something so transporting bright. I clap my hands to see —. Then veil my too inspecting face. Lets such a subtle — shimmering grace. Flutter too far for me —. Enjoying t...

Cure For Boredom: Thanksgiving Post
http://www.cureforboredomiscuriosity.com/2010/10/thanksgiving-post.html
Sunday, October 10, 2010. It's Thanksgiving in these parts, and you can tell by the snow outside (it IS mid-October in the Yukon, after all), the turkey cooking instructions across my counter top, and the longer hugs I give Rich saying, "thanks for loving me, babe" (followed by his confused squirming away going to eat a sandwich). When prompted to think of the things for which I am thankful, the effort is quite minimal. Every day before dozing off to sleep I try and think of all the things I'm thankf...

The home project: January 2015
http://northof60yukon.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Single parenting after divorce, work, life, and kids.all under this small roof. Saturday, January 31, 2015. Over the last little while I have done a few things around the house ranging from my big countertop project to a smaller back porch project. I saved money by buying a piece of counter top that was cracked but I would be cutting it off anyway because it was too long for my area, and once again clearance paint on sale from $48 to $18 cut my budget way down. Potential but not quite there yet. And last...

The home project: basing all future relationships on the orkin man
http://northof60yukon.blogspot.com/2015/07/basing-all-future-relationships-on.html
Single parenting after divorce, work, life, and kids.all under this small roof. Monday, July 27, 2015. Basing all future relationships on the orkin man. I've set a new bar in my life, I will forever expect to be treated as well as the Orkin man has treated me. Yes I am paying him for this service, I get that totally, but still his patience and his thought process about my comfort level over some silly little mice is refreshing. It's the first time in a year that someone has actually gone out of their...

The home project: March 2015
http://northof60yukon.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Single parenting after divorce, work, life, and kids.all under this small roof. Monday, March 30, 2015. But if it isn't on facebook it can't be real. Every time I read a post on facebook about "my wonderful husband", "best dad ever", "love of my life" I get little irrational knives of anger and jealousy stabbing me in my stomach. I honestly stare wistfully at those posts and see the accumulated likes and feel a range of emotions. No But I do. Is making a facebook post the end of the world? There are days...

Newer posts →. Just because it’s cute! July 2, 2015. This picture doesn’t go with anything else, but I still think it’s ridiculously cute. Paige made moustaches and goatees out of paper that she somehow convinced both Hanna and Davin to tape to their faces….Davin’s moustache has to be my favourite! So here’s a picture just because:). A couple of day trips! July 2, 2015. In my attempt to catch up on posts, I’m going to put a couple of day trips we did together back in May. Hiking up the hill. June 22, 2015.

Keeping busy for the last couple of weeks! July 31, 2015. I have quite a list of things that I need to get done before we moved (packers are here two weeks from Tuesday – YIKES! And on my list was to finish the mitts that I started over a year ago – I was determined to get them done so that I could wear them this winter. So I got down to business and am so happy to finally have them done – and I’m pretty happy with the result! View all posts by Lindsay →. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Tales fro...

Starring Alyssa As Herself: Ode to my Girlfriends
http://www.alyssadellepalme.com/2013/06/ode-to-my-girlfriends.html
Sunday, June 9, 2013. Ode to my Girlfriends. When we were twelve, my girlfriends and I had a Spice Girls party. We dressed up as our favourite Spice Girl and spent the night dancing and singing along to their debut album "Spice". We even had a photo shoot and posed wearing platform shoes and crazy amounts of roll on glitter. It was so much fun. I believe the Spice Girls taught us two things: (1) Girl Power! The welcome sign for the blushing bride. Handmade name tags for shower guests. Of an $80 gift bag ...

Starring Alyssa As Herself: Happy Mama
http://www.alyssadellepalme.com/2014/05/happy-mama.html
Sunday, May 4, 2014. Mother's Day is a week away and I've been thinking about how I want to follow in the great footsteps of my amazing Mimi. I aim to love as I have been loved. My mother is my kindred spirit and her beautiful heart flows kindness into our family. I am a better mother because of her. My parents went out of town and came home to an early Mother's Day surprise this weekend. My sister and I made a chore list and spent a day cleaning their house-including the toilets. Their gorgeous bouquets...
