A Climenhaga Home: The Heart of My Faith
http://climenheise.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-heart-of-my-faith.html
Sunday, June 28, 2015. The Heart of My Faith. Last year I spoke about how to read the Bible. I observed the value of reading the Bible as a story rather than as a collection of facts-truths disconnected from lived experience. The Bible is the story of how God redeems and reconciles rebellious people and restores all of creation. But we may still wonder: Granted that the Bible is the story about God and humanity, why do we need to read it? What does it matter? Luke begins his gospel with these words:.

Tuesday, January 12, 2010. 34 weeks today. Yay! Thursday, January 7, 2010. It started snowing this morning and didn't stop till just before dark. We ended up with at least 2 inches. It's pretty, but I didn't feel like playing in it. I enjoyed watching it from my nice, warm house. Copper keeping an eye on things and no I didn't make him stay outside all day:). Looking into our neighbor's backyard. Trees across the street. Part of our frontyard and the neighbor's. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Monday, July 13, 2009. Tristan and I just recently made a move to Kentucky. My niece, Missy, and her friend, Hanna, put together a surprise going away party from all my students. I thought it was very sweet of them. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Our handsome baby boy. I'm just a small town girl who loves the country. 5 years ago I married my high school sweetheart. A Climenhaga Home: Remembering Mother (Heise)
http://climenheise.blogspot.com/2015/05/remembering-mother-heise.html
Sunday, May 17, 2015. I wrote about my mother last week, but of course every mother’s day Lois and I remember two mothers—each other’s as well as our own. (We also remember Verna Mae, but that will wait for another blog.) I cannot describe mother as Lois remembers her; this is my story only. I have told the story elsewhere of the first encounter. Mother valued her relationship with God. She and Dad drove 30 miles every Sunday to go to church, often morning and evening. Dad was a deacon in the chu...She w...

Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Thank you, BBC (a story about trolls). The BBC just ran a story on Internet trolls. We have become experts at de-humanizing each other. I want to be part of re-humanizing those with whom I disagree - discovering that they are people like me, or (if you prefer) that I am a person, like them. Monday, April 20, 2015. We went, and learned, and practiced, and I found I enjoyed dancing as much as she did. 8221; in my ear as we stepped, “One, two three.” From our three y...I wonder if i...

Sunday, September 21, 2014. Reading the Bible: The Church's Bible. From Lissa Wray Beal’s course on “Reading the Church’s Bible”:. The feast on scripture, which continually renews and satisfies our appetite. So this morning I want to help us understand how to read the Bible, our Bible, the church’s Bible. I begin with the kind of “principles of interpretation” that we used to always mention. They are still true, but secondary to the main point (which follows). Context, context, context! NT interprets OT:...

A Kid at Heart: Thoughts on Thanksgiving
http://deniseelaine.blogspot.com/2007/11/thoughts-on-thanksgiving.html
A Kid at Heart. Thursday, November 29, 2007. I am a little behind on the whole Thanksgiving thing, but I didn’t want this time of year to pass without some thoughts. Thanksgiving is not just a day, it is learning to live in a state of thankfulness. An awareness of things to be grateful for in our lives, an attitude. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and will continue to count your blessings because there are so many! This is what I like to see.they did a great job with those potatoes! We could all ...

A Kid at Heart: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Daryl
http://deniseelaine.blogspot.com/2008/05/happy-birthday-daryl.html
A Kid at Heart. Friday, May 30, 2008. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Daryl. I was thinking about you today and was mulling over my memories of yester year. These are some of my memories of you-. You used to tickle me a lot and I would usually end up asking Mother to make you stop. Now, however, the tables have turned and you are much more ticklish that I and I usually take advantage of that. Remember, what goes around usually comes around. I do not think I terrorize you too much now. Hmmmm - maybe. Other Blogs I Like.
