View from the North Bank

View from the North Bank. Molineux thoughts from journalist John Bray - proudly following Wolves around the Football League, and occasionally elsewhere, since 1977. Saturday, 25 August 2012. Solbakken repairs the fracture that wouldn't heal. The arrival of a new boss, with new ideas and a new way of conveying them, and the departure of three players who could have been major weapons in the battle for promotion. I shook my head in sad disbelief at the on-field argument between Johnson and Hennessey. L...

View from the North Bank: December 2008

View from the North Bank. Molineux thoughts from journalist John Bray - proudly following Wolves around the Football League, and occasionally elsewhere, since 1977. Monday, 29 December 2008. Farewell to a great 2008 - now for the final push. It's a pity that our final memory of 2008 will probably be an ill-judged decision by Wayne Hennessey to come for a free kick in the closing stages at Blackpool's Bloomfield Road. In 2008 Wolves amassed 92 points from 47 games. That's promotion form, no question.

View from the North Bank. Molineux thoughts from journalist John Bray - proudly following Wolves around the Football League, and occasionally elsewhere, since 1977. Wednesday, 18 February 2009. No excuses - Sunday really is the day to deliver. The irony will not be lost on 20,000 Wolves fans who will file into Molineux on Sunday with hope in our hearts, but fear and trepidation in our heads. In the one dugout will be the manager who presided over a Wolves promotion capitulation in 2002. Well this one does.

View from the North Bank. Molineux thoughts from journalist John Bray - proudly following Wolves around the Football League, and occasionally elsewhere, since 1977. Friday, 10 July 2009. Ronald muscles in as Wolves raise the bar. One game down, one victory secured, one bad injury - and we're still no clearer knowing which team Mick McCarthy will send out on Saturday August 15. Of course I've watched the edited Youtube "highlights" of Zubar's career in France, and wondered what Wolves were buying, but not...

View from the North Bank. Molineux thoughts from journalist John Bray - proudly following Wolves around the Football League, and occasionally elsewhere, since 1977. Monday, 23 April 2012. Builder Morgan has some subsidence to repair. A successful relationship between a football fan and a club chairman is surely built on faith and trust? If so, Wolverhampton Wanderers chairman Steve Morgan clearly has some ground to make up. Results since Terry Connor took over have been some of the worst in Wolves’...

View from the North Bank. Molineux thoughts from journalist John Bray - proudly following Wolves around the Football League, and occasionally elsewhere, since 1977. Saturday, 12 May 2012. Stale Wolves provide a fresh approach. So no need to spend the summer condemning Wolves for taking too long to appoint a manager. No need to metaphorically burn your season ticket book in disgust at Wolves appointing a manager from within. So just 24 hours after Morgan told the end of season awards dinner that he's a * ...
