John Clare ~ A Virtual Exhibition of Work: John Chapman

http://www.johnclare150.blogspot.com/p/john-chapman.html

The first days work I ever did in my life occurred at Easter 1962 when I started working for Lord Burghley on the Burghley Estate. It was a harsh wake up call and something of a reality check. The evidence was clear to see that generations of horticulturists had created a legacy that I was now a custodian of. Little had changed in the growing methods and the implements used. It was extremely labour intense and as a result non profitable. Nature was starting to win the battle over a small workforc...The &...

John Clare ~ A Virtual Exhibition of Work: James Murray-White

A (mid) life with John Clare. I’ve come late to John Clare. This despite what I thought was a good literary education in that most cultured of Cities, Cambridge. Indeed, Helpston now lies within the Cambridgeshire boundary, transferred from Northamptonshire in 1974, so it is acutely embarrassing that I didn’t get to study him while at secondary and sixth form not 50 miles from. Clare’s physical and emotional and space and place. I’m gauging this through Clare’s dance. More high than sources such as these...

John Clare ~ A Virtual Exhibition of Work: Anne Lee

As an artist/photographer I work in a variety of media, primarily photographic images, but also painting, printmaking and handmade artists books. Often these media are combined in order to achieve the desired result. A beautiful flower that bedeckt a mean pasture. In virgin perfection I found. Its fair bloom stood naked to e'ery disaster. Deep the storm gatherd around. The rose in the midst of its brambles is blooming. Whose weapons intruders alarm. But sweetest of blossoms fond fair and weak woman.

TWEET OF THE DAY. The book of the Radio 4 series 'Tweet of the Day', remodelled as a great book by Stephen Moss and Brett Westwood, and with lots of illustrations by me, was published on the 10th April 2014. Clare is quoted a couple of times at the introductory pages, and then for corncrake, wagtail and bittern. I spent the winter making 248 vignettes of the birds, and 36 colour pages as well as the cover. 8217; curated by lovely Miranda Leonard. Click follow to receive my intermittent news:.

John Clare Weblog

Winter is past—the little bee resumes. Her share of sun and shade and oer the lea. Hums its first hymnings to the flowers perfumes. Wakes a sense of gratfulness in me. The little daisey keeps its wonted pace. Ere march by april gets disarmd of snow. A look of joy opes on its smiling face. Turnd to that power that suffers it to blow. Ah pleasant time as pleasing as ye be. One still more pleasing, hope reserves for me. Where suns unsetting one long summer shine. O may the good mans righteous end be mine.
