Ramblings and general chat. Fun In The Sun. With Louisa learning Spanish, then a trip to Spain is surely justified on educational grounds alone; thus off we went for a grand adventure. But aside from sending her on shopping trips in search of breakfast (apparently she knows the Spanish for several kinds of cake judging by the haul she came back with…unless she just pointed and smiled) we also made sure she had some fun too. Ramblings and general chat. For some time now I’ve been in the odd position of being a. System architect on my project but not the. System architect. And then the. System architect left (the company). This is actually quite a big challenge, but it’s the chance to do a lot of good stuff, and I’m really looking forward to it. It’s a bit scary too, but I guess that’s a good thing! I did get two rather lovely whisky tumblers though to share a drink with the husband who I’ve known for all those ten years.

Friday, 24 September 2010. The plan is later to go out for a meal to celebrate (mark? 8211; it depends on your point of view) my departure. I am not sure where we are going or what type of food we will be having. It is interesting how the guide books and even the Zambian Tourist people talk about the fine range of food available in Zambia: Indian, Chinese, Mexican, European … . Sunday, 26 September 2010. We were offered 'dinner' at about midnight in Addis Ababa. I am not sure that is what I would have called it - lamb (more bone than meat - a lot more! With some sauce and vegetables - but it was quite nice all the same. This was followed by a visit to a fascinating 'religious' tourist gift shop (yes, in an airport) where I was seduced by a hand crafted crib! And I have promised the office an article for The Slate. So maybe there will be a small amount of 'mopping up' yet! This ...

Tuesday, 27 July 2010. I knew they were expensive but £127 for a month's malarone makes you think! Well, not about taking them - it strikes me they are non-optional - but about where the money goes - drug companies' research? Are they complicated to produce? And what about the retailer's cut?
