Monday, September 1, 2014. Internal Fitout - Initial Stages. It was another stunning today, and so I enjoyed working on the canoe all afternoon. It was pretty productive too. First I uncovered the hull and clamped the cradles from the sold strong back, onto the sawhorses. It was so good to see the hull sitting right way up again. Tuesday, July 6, 2010. Waiting to Fiber Glass. Just been messing around with odd jobs whilst waiting for a decent weather window to fiber glass the outside of the hull. The photos below show my experiment with the filleting powder, using the first (failed) test panel. It worked out really well, the fillets are rock hard. Sunday, August 31, 2014. The weather has thwarted me at almost every turn over the last couple of weeks, but I have managed to make at least some progress. As mentioned, I'd bought my inspection ports and bungs for the watertight bulkheads and so now I worked on getting them fitted. It was a simple matter to draw around the openings, and then I used a hole saw to get things started. Should provide a better landing edge for the deck now too. Thursday, January 27, 2011. Interior Glass at Last. Last weekend I continued as planned by giving the interior a final sand, vacuum and wipe down. Satisfied that I had as perfect a surface as possible, I happily threw myself at laminating the first strip amidships. I was pretty confident, since the test panel had turned out brilliantly. I know how annoying it can be when you have an occasional look at a blog and there's been no action for a while. Poor old thing is sitting out there under the tarps again. The build has been on the back burner since February, due to overwhelming work/family/study commitments, but I hope to resume work on her shortly. Sunday, June 20, 2010. More 80 grit Sanding. What a machine. It worked so much quicker and left a much nicer finish, even using the same 80 grit paper. In no time at all, I'd finished the last quarter of the boat and gone right back over the rest again to clean it all up just that bit more.
