Each painting is a new dive into the cenote, down deep, past the last flickers of sunlight. What I bring back into light is always a surprise. I have been delighting in looseness, luminosity, rhythm, color, and the untranslatable calligraphic line. Seeing a recent painting, a friend remarked, “I see that you added some shadows and some modeling.”.
