John in Zagreb: Pics from Graz

Monday, March 19, 2007. I've uploaded some pictures from my trip to Graz this weekend! Http:/ picasaweb.google.com/jwhulsey/GrazMarch07. Can you define "thwacking"? Looks like the flowers are really blooming but I understand the roller coaster weather. I was in shorts one day and the next we had snow. I recognized some of those places from our trip. Really good pictures *hug*. March 21, 2007 at 5:36 PM. Thwacking is the sound of wood hitting other wood. March 22, 2007 at 3:04 AM. View my complete profile.

Tales from the Eastern Bloc. Beatin’ the heat in the Bucegi Mountains. August 26, 2007. While temperatures in Bucharest climbed into the 100s again this week, I decided to head to the nearby Bucegi Mountains, where the forecasted high was 85. The idea was to escape the heat and the noise of the city for a few days, and to hopefully get a good night or two of rest in a more comfortable bed. (Despite the heat, I somehow managed to get a cold this week! Two weeks in the ‘rest. August 21, 2007. Based on what...

Tales from the Eastern Bloc. September 12, 2008. For those who I’ve seen since my return to America (and there are a lot of you! Needless to say, I am exhausted. But life is good. So I’ve decided to continue posting on my blog, to keep friends and family up to date with what’s going on, and to share pictures and thoughts from my adventures in the U.S.A. So without further ado, I present some of the summer’s great highlights. Which was super fun despite the oppressive heat! After our East Coast weekend, K...

Live from Sarajevo | las-o baltă

https://lasobalta.wordpress.com/2008/06/27/live-from-sarajevo

Tales from the Eastern Bloc. Looking at a map of Eastern Europe. Sarajevo does not seem so far away from Bucharest. And, in fact, it’s not such a terribly long distance. As the crow flies. What’s more, the bus from Belgrade did not even go directly to Sarajevo proper, but rather to East Sarajevo, a Serbian stronghold just outside the formal city limits, because it originated in Serbia! If this sounds confusing, that’s because it is. Perhaps a map of the Bosnian state. Feed You can leave a response. Thank...

Tales from the Eastern Bloc. On both occasions I had to stay overnight, since the distance to Bucharest precluded taking daytrips. However, I was fortunate to stay with the parents of one of my good Romanian friends, Bogdan, who is now a colleague in my PhD program at Indiana. Bogdan is from a small city called Roman, which is conveniently (for me, at least! Regrettably, I don’t have many pictures from my trips. Tales from the Eastern Bloc. 30 hours in Belgrade. September 18, 2007. I’ve just returned from a whirlwind tour of Belgrade, Serbia, over the weekend. Unfortunately, my trip was cut short because I was unexpectedly invited to a judges’ association meeting in Bucharest on Saturday morning, which was an opportunity I could not pass up. (Oh, that pesky research! But I was not even allowed to change my dollars into Serbian dinars until the second day! My Landlord’s Big Fat Romanian Nuntă. September 3, 2007.

Tales from the Eastern Bloc. July 22, 2007. This past weekend was quite busy. The language course organizers took us on two day-long excursions to various locations in the surrounding region of Maramureş. So, while I still have not taken any decent pictures of Baia Mare proper (the city where I am staying), I have loads of pictures from our two days of touring in the mountains. Tales from the Eastern Bloc. March 24, 2008. While you may be forgiven for thinking, Hasn’t this kid had enough vacations already? The answer is clearly no. So, in a hopelessly romantic fit earlier this winter, I booked two tickets for Kymber and I to spend Valentine’s Day weekend in Rome. Sounds swanky, I know. But before you get too carried away, the tickets were super cheap (Thank you low-cost airlines! What a great spot to run! But there we were, soaking in the beautiful sun, while noshing on great I...

Entities should not be multiplied unnecessarily. Xar -xf filename.pkg. 如果是 Linux 系统,可以 Google 去下载安装 xar. Distribution Resources filename1.pkg filename2.pkg . 对于用 Python 开发的同学,对 pip 和 easy install 已经是非常熟悉了。 Easy install 是由 PEAK(Python Enterprise Application Kit) 开发的 setuptools 包里带的一个命令,它用来安装egg包。

Slowing Down to Discover Peace. How to Study Compassion. Slowing Down to Discover Peace. Begin by asking yourself, "Where am I headed and why all the rush? Then tell yourself that it is ok to slow down, to take your time. As anxious thoughts try to fill your head do not react to them, just watch the thoughts on the movie screen in your head. Now as your mind slows down drop all of the needless thoughts that make up "your story" and allow that space to be occupied by peace. It is that easy. ( read more.
