By John Keston and Piotr Szyhalski. This combined version of the original piano recording and the rendered nails and twine installation illustrates the differences in color and texture along side the similarities of cadence and pitches between the two works. While listening you might recognized that the frequencies match for brief moments and then wander off again as tiny flaws and variable slackness in the twine shape the hand synthesized sonic textures. Duets with the Singing Ringing Tree. March 20, 2015. In May, 2014 I performed. Duets with the Singing Ringing Tree. Evoke an eerie resonance. The synthesizer accompaniment alternates between contrasting and mimicking the haunting tones of the cold, metal structure. Read on for a series of photos from the project. NOTE: These are binaural recordings combined with synthesizer accompaniment. Although it sounds great through speakers, circumaural headphones must be used to experience the binaural effect.

His work evokes stochastic behaviors in compositional structures by translating visual or gestural input into sound. One example is the Gestural Music Sequencer (GMS). GMS is an application developed in Processing.org. That analyzes video input and converts it into a sequence of musical information in real-time.

An underlying foundation of curriculum with carefully organized content and detailed project requirements is critical to my approach, but it is also important for me to be flexible when necessary.
