For the 2011 World Summer Games he will be the Assistant Sport Manager for Powerlifting. He attended the 2006 National Games as athletics coach for Team Kansas. He also attended the 2010 National Games as the Head Coach for Powerlifting for Team Kansas and serves on the Executive Council for the Torch Run in Kansas and Board of Directors for Special Olympics Kansas.

John Lair and Team USA headed to Athens, Greece. Monday, June 27, 2011. Wild couple of days. Well we went to opening ceremonies on Saturday night. We loaded the busses around 3pm. We actually didn't get into the stadium until about 830pm. The music and ceremony was unreal. Stevie Wonder and Vanessa Williams were the main acts. I felt so much pride walking into the stadium representing the USA. After the ceremony we loaded a bus ad returned to hotel around 4 am. Long Night. Greece is only 10 Days Away.
