Carlton, Minnesota

Carlton is a decent sized town in Carlton County, and is the county seat. It once contained the Northern Pacific lines between St. Paul and Duluth, Fargo and Duluth, Carlton and Cloquet along with the Great Northern Line from Grand Forks to Superior. Today, the GN line is fully intact, along with the NP line west to Fargo. The rest is abandoned or trails. The area is most famous for Jay Cooke State Park. Jay Cooke State Park Trail Bridge. Willard Munger Trail - Forbay Canal Bridge.

Anoka only had one railroad, the east/west Northern Pacific Mainline. Today, it is highly active as the BNSF Mainline. BNSF 7th Avenue Bridge. BNSF Rum River Bridges. US-10 Trail Overpass (Anoka).

The third largest city in the United States, and largest in Illinois, Chicago is a major city full of transportation. Chicago was founded in 1833, with a population of 200. Currently, it has nearly 2.75 million people in the city, and over 10 million in the metro. The city takes up nearly a third of the area of Cook County. The city continued to grow through the 19th and 20th century. Chicago is the most important rail hub in North America, connecting a massive rail network and the Great Lakes.
