Atom: A Hackable Text Editor for the 21st Century // John Nunemaker

https://johnnunemaker.com/atom-a-hackable-text-editor-for-the-21st-century

Atom: A Hackable Text Editor for the 21st Century. December 19, 2014. Last night at Local Variables. I presented on Atom. GitHub’s relatively new text editor. I did an overview followed by a short demo. It has been a few years since I’ve done a talk, so it was good to get in front of people again. I’ve embedded the talk below for anyone interested in flipping through the slides or watching the video. Additionally, if you have not checked out Atom yet, what are you waiting for? Larr; Pain and Programming.

Analytics at GitHub // John Nunemaker

https://johnnunemaker.com/analytics-at-github

February 24, 2014. In the interest of getting back into writing, I want to break the seal with a simple what have I been up to and thinking about lately style post. Hopefully future topics will be more focused and frequent. For the past year, I have been working on data and analytics at GitHub. We have grown from 1 to 4 full time people, with really close involvement from a few other people technically on other teams. The lesson I learned while building Gauges. Note that up to this point in the article, ...

Pain and Programming // John Nunemaker

https://johnnunemaker.com/pain-and-programming

March 03, 2014. In May of 2013, my hand pain was so intense I took nearly a month off work. When I started back at work and almost immediately felt pain again, I knew the issue was not rest, but habits. I spent the next eight months reading a ton about posture, muscles, keyboards, mice, exercise, tension, anger and more. While I am far from pain free, I am much improved and continue to improve, by replacing my old bad habits with new good habits. Get better, then get efficient. A Note of Encouragement.

Flipper: Insanely Easy Feature Flipping // John Nunemaker

https://johnnunemaker.com/flipper

Flipper: Insanely Easy Feature Flipping. June 21, 2015. Nearly three years ago. I started work on Flipper. Even though there were other feature flipping libraries out there at the time, most notably rollout. I decided to whip up my own. Repeating others. Is, after all, one of the better ways to level up your game. Most of the work was done off and on over the course of a few weeks. At the time, I was working on traffic graphs for GitHub and I wanted a way to turn features on/off in a flexible way. Is som...

Of Late // RailsTips by John Nunemaker

One man, lazily posting some of the things he learns. February 24, 2014. Older: Let Nunes Do It. Newer: Flipper: Insanely Easy Feature Flipping. A lot has changed over the years. I now do a lot more than just rails and having railstips as my domain seems to mentally put me in a corner. As such, I have revived johnnunemaker.com. While I may still post a rails topic here once in a while, I’ll be posting a lot more varied topics over there. Head on over and give it a read. May 14, 2014. Jun 30, 2014.

The Man in Blue > widgEditor: A simple, standards-compliant WYSIWYG HTML editor

The Man in Blue. Contrast style (low vision). WidgEditor: A simple, standards-compliant WYSIWYG HTML editor. Raquo; widgEditor HTML editor «. There's quite a few HTML-based HTML editors out there, but they all lack something. Most of them are fairly code obtrusive – requiring you to carve out a hefty chunk of HTML/JavaScript in order to get them to display – or the outputted code is hardly standards compliant. Kevin Roth's Rich Text Editor. So, in steps my contender: widgEditor. Style the interface purel...

Mom and Dad got their landline back yesterday afternoon. Mom and Dad still do not have a landline. They are hard at work cutting down and up-righting fallen trees. Happy Birthday Mom - don't work too hard and try to enjoy your birthday! Uncle Tony just called Tia Nazare - he is OK - he lost some shingles on the house - but otherwise everything is OK with him. Finished the last exam I needed to complete my MCSE. I am now a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. Wow, it feels good to type that!
