Yours in...: February 2015
http://johnston9494.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Sharing the Johnston Adventures. Wednesday, February 18, 2015. 672 Ozarks Bungalow Research. Research continues on the history of our Ozarks Bungalow. Research is fun - no matter where you do it. I especially love research at the library. And I've been known to spend a lot of time searching online sources from home. This time, though, our successful research started at the Hair Shed. Hinchey, R. E., and Berninghaus, O. E. (1907). Aurora: Lawrence County Missouri. Betty stopped by last week to help us fig...

Sharing the Johnston Adventures. Wednesday, July 15, 2015. 676 Ozarks Bungalow flooring. A lot has been happening at our Ozarks Bungalow. Lately, we've been focused on flooring. In the photo below, the living room floor in the background had been covered with carpeting that we removed in August. Then there's a gap where the wall used to be and the kitchen flooring is in the foreground. The kitchen floor was covered with tile and we removed that in February. Yours in flooring,. Sharing the Johnston Adventures. Thursday, July 31, 2014. 656 Home to Missouri (and Virginia). One thing is certain. No one is moving from Charlottesville any time soon.". That's according to the Guardian in their article Happiness is a place called Charlottesville, Virginia. I'm a native Virginian who grew up and attended Green Acres elementary school in Fairfax. This is what I looked like then. The first discovered happiness is the magnificent Big Spring. There are three contenders for America's bigges...

Sharing the Johnston Adventures. Monday, December 29, 2014. 671 Ozarks Bungalow featured in American Bungalow. After years of subscribing to American Bungalow. We now receive our copies in the mailbox at our very own Ozarks Bungalow. The latest issue is of particular appeal. For one thing, we love the wisteria on the cover. And inside (on page 8 to be exact), we find our Ozarks Bungalow included in the family album:. Yours in being part of the bungalow family,. Sunday, December 07, 2014. It's a win win.

Sharing the Johnston Adventures. Saturday, August 01, 2015. 677 Crane Creek to Ozarks Bungalow. We became the fifth owners of our 101-year-old Ozarks Bungalow when we purchased it in 2009 from the fourth owner - local celebrity Wayne Holmes. Wayne was salty, opinionated, rough-edged, and devoted to the things he held dear, which included his countryside, his stories, his family, Shakespeare, and good writing." - Steve Wiegenstein. To prove it. He passed away in September 2014. Fence post at just the righ...

Wompliss Travels: March 2011
http://wompliss.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 24, 2011. Internet has been scarce on the ship the last few weeks. We were saddened to learn about Japan and have since re-routed so that we’ll be visiting Taiwan instead of Japan. We arrive in Hong Kong tomorrow – so excited to be in China and be off the ship. Although it has only been two days between Vietnam and China, the seas are very rough! Everyone is walking around like a zombie and ship is shaking a lot! Wednesday, March 16, 2011. The Mantra to Woo Tourist". Sunday, March 6, 2011.
Journey through Kozmik Kaos: Winter reading
http://kozmikkaos.blogspot.com/2011/02/winter-reading.html
Wednesday, February 2, 2011. How does one endure record-breaking winter temperatures when one hates winter? By reading, of course! Brian and I have both kept our noses buried in books as December and January have slowly passed. What have I been reading? The Curse of the Pharoahs. By Elizabeth Peters. The second in the Amelia Peabody series. I adore these books and am kicking myself for taking so long to discover them. Morality for Beautiful Girls. And Kalahari Typing School for Men. Get your updates here!
Journey through Kozmik Kaos: January is over!
http://kozmikkaos.blogspot.com/2011/02/january-is-over.html
Tuesday, February 1, 2011. It may seem like a strange thing to wish away an entire month when you've just turned forty years old and time may start to seem a bit more precious. However, considering the nature of this January, it was time that seemed less precious than, shall we say, torturous. So why are we still in North Carolina and what have we been doing? It turns out there is a great deal more to be done to the boat before we can even go as far as Florida and, frankly, after this winter Florida does...
Journey through Kozmik Kaos: Twists and turns - wire jewelry
http://kozmikkaos.blogspot.com/2011/02/twists-and-turns-wire-jewelry.html
Thursday, February 10, 2011. Twists and turns - wire jewelry. For these, I twisted some type of silver artistic wire around a tube to get the shape. Purple is my cousin's favorite color, so I added two purple beads at the bottom. Here I twisted larger gauge silver-coated copper wire into this sort of treble clef shape, then flattened and texturized them with a hammer. These were made with artist's coated copper wire and some bead findings. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Get your updates here!

Monday, May 31, 2010. Of family and boats. I think we all have a vision of what our most perfect day would be. My vision usually involves some combination of my family, a beautiful summer day, the ocean (or some other salty body of water), and some form of watery entertainment. It is frequently snorkeling, often kayaking, and now , of course, it is often sailing. And got to enjoy some evening breezes on our last day at Greg and Susan's at the Shallotte River Inlet. Granny Peg at the helm. At the helm of.
Journey through Kozmik Kaos: Our boat
http://kozmikkaos.blogspot.com/p/our-boat.html
Before Brian and I had even merged our dreams together we both knew we wanted a catamaran. We like their room and stability. After much research (including reading Cruising Catamaran Communique. If you want to know more about these terrific boats please visit this site: Catamaransite.com. This gentleman has put together a great website all about Catalac catamarans and there is no way I could top it. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Get your updates here! Monday, April 19, 2010. Learning to love pressure. We survived to have a really delicious meal. We could cut the pork chops with a fork. Yes, a fork! And the carrots.mmmm.the carrots were the epitome of carrotness. Sweet and tender. We were officially hooked on the pressure cooker and have since made pinto beans and scallops in it as well, both of which were quick, easy, and to-die-for. If the pressure cooker had fingers we'd both be ready to put a gold band on one of them by now. Our blog is still under...

Friday, June 4, 2010. Taking a stab at embroidery. I think my craft skills will come in handy on the boat, especially in sail repair. Speaking of which, we will have some "new" sails soon. Brian has found some good deals on Ebay and we should have them in a few days. Tuesday, June 1, 2010. The domestication of Tina. But what I really wanted to write about tonight is the delectable, kitschy booklet goodness that came with the stainless steel cookware and the sewing machine. Gosh, I love the 60's. ...The p...

Johnston Family
Sunday, June 7, 2015. We only have birthday parties for our 5 and 10 year olds and then maybe something small when they turn 13 or 16 but we haven't gotten there yet. Katelyn turned 10 this year and she wanted a Colonial Birthday party. She invited all her friends from homeschool group and a couple of neighbors. We went to Williamsburg a couple years ago which the kids loved so we did a little version of Williamsburg for the party. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of the hop scotch (or scotch-hop...

Sharing the Johnston Adventures. Thursday, October 05, 2017. Where do you go for supplies when you want to make a teacup out of old tires? My brother's farm, of course! Sure enough, we spot an old tractor tire under the leaves that he no longer needs. The big tractor tire and three big truck tires are too big for our car, but that's OK because my nephew has a big truck. Perfect! We get them home and start to work. Kelly says he's never used his sawzall to cut open a tire. Go figure. When did you first le...
