Paintings from a Small Town: Bit-O-Honey
http://johnvanderstelt.blogspot.com/2014/01/bit-o-honey.html
Paintings from a Small Town. Original oil paintings by John Vander Stelt. Monday, January 13, 2014. The paintbrushes have been taking a rest–or I suppose in all honesty, I have. This is another small painting of candy that I just finished. The Bit-O-Honey candy has always been somewhat underrated in my opinion. Maybe it is because it is wrapped to look like a candy bar, but when you open it, it is more of a taffy. Is that what you'd call it? Whatever it is, I have always liked it. View my complete profile.
Paintings from a Small Town: Tulip Festival Painting - Part 1
http://johnvanderstelt.blogspot.com/2015/03/tulip-festival-painting-part-1.html
Paintings from a Small Town. Original oil paintings by John Vander Stelt. Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Tulip Festival Painting - Part 1. Director, Juliana Pennings. We all met on a sunny winter afternoon in a room with large windows in the Northwestern College Learning Commons. Shown in the photo above (left to right) are my wife, Denise, Ryan, Adam, Cohen and Courtney Boone. I had told Juliana I wanted to use wooden buckets if she could find any. She was pretty relentless in searching for them. Th...The n...

Paintings from a Small Town. Original oil paintings by John Vander Stelt. Friday, April 3, 2015. Tulip Festival Painting - Part 2. As you can see, the whole painting was completed in these tones prior to adding any other color. I had family members who saw the painting at this stage and thought it was finished. Nice of them to think that, but it was far from done! Next blog post will show the completed painting and unveiling event. April 4, 2015 at 11:05 AM. April 4, 2015 at 12:36 PM.

Paintings from a Small Town: Starburst Fruit Chews
http://johnvanderstelt.blogspot.com/2013/10/starburst-fruit-chews.html
Paintings from a Small Town. Original oil paintings by John Vander Stelt. Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Just in time for Halloween, a candy painting. I think it is a combination of my love of painting, graphic design, pop art and of course candy. Over the years of posting to this blog, there have been paintings of a Reeses Peanut Butter cup. My personal favorite candy), a Twin Bing. And a piece of Double Bubble. Add to the list a pack of Starbursts. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

COBO: Avonlea: 8 Months
http://uuhhwhat.blogspot.com/2015/07/avonlea-8-months.html
Tuesday, July 7, 2015. Baby girl is 8 months old! New developments this month include her first 2 teeth (bottom) and lots more chattering (see video). This means she's getting too loud for church sometimes. She can sit unassisted now, can take a bath in the big bathtub if we are right next to the tub, and is rolling all over the place. She isn't crawling and doesn't get up on her knees by herself, so we have a little bit of time until she's fully mobile. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The farmer and...
COBO: 4th of July
http://uuhhwhat.blogspot.com/2015/07/4th-of-july.html
Saturday, July 4, 2015. It's always great when the 4th of July falls on a weekend and although we didn't have any travel plans, it's always nice to have a 3-day weekend. We kicked off my day off on July 3rd with our weekly donuts from the bakery (since they would be closed Saturday). We went out to Pizza Ranch at lunch and then went swimming at night at the town pool. Flashing rings from Great-Aunt Glenday on their toes! First S'more of the season. Cohen with a sparkler is a danger to everyone.

Saturday, April 25, 2015. We had pretty high corner seats in General Admission and I think they would have paid attention more if we were closer (or if anyone could understand the announcers at all) but they still had fun. Waiting for the circus to start. Little circus girl slept or sat quietly through the whole thing! Power kids with their little light-up toys. Cohen's turn with the light sword. Ryan wanted to try cotton candy (and Adam loves an excuse to buy it). Cohen eating Wade's chips. He can sing ...
COBO: Ryan: 5 Years, 9 months
http://uuhhwhat.blogspot.com/2015/07/ryan-5-years-8-months.html
Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Ryan: 5 Years, 9 months. Besides Legos, he still enjoys playing with his Swith N Go Dinos (and even bought a new one with some birthday money he found) and setting up all his Angry Birds- never in the configuration they were designed, but always in inventive new ways. A big milestone this month was learning to ride his bike without training wheels! While I was gone, Ryan also attended Bible School at our church and had a great time! COBO: October 2014
http://uuhhwhat.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 31, 2014. This year, Ryan went back and forth quite a few times on what he wanted to be for Halloween. We considered a few DIY options but in the end, the cost of finding all the right clothing pieces was more than just buying a cheap costume off of buycostumes.com. They had a great deal going with swagbucks. Cohen refused to try on the hat all the way up to when we left for trick-or-treating, so I was actually amazed he wore it at all. Links to this post. COBO: Cohen: 2 Years, 7 Months
http://uuhhwhat.blogspot.com/2015/07/cohen-2-years-7-months.html
Sunday, July 12, 2015. Cohen: 2 Years, 7 Months. In these other pictures you'll see Cohen doing his favorite thing.hanging out outside. He likes his new sunglasses and LOVES the plasma car. His legs aren't quite long enough to reach the pedals of any of the other toys we have, but he is just the right height to push the plasma car at an alarmingly high speed. Can I pway wif your Angee Birds? Even the ones you have set up? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Landscaping project: Front of house. The best d...

COBO: November 2014
http://uuhhwhat.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 30, 2014. We had pictures taken at Picture This in Sioux Center. I brought Avonlea in the morning for her session and then we took the boys later in the afternoon to try a few sibling shots. We had one uncooperative Cohen but at least we got several cute shots of Avonlea! Here are a few of my favorites (click to view larger):. The photographer had the perfect wrap to go with it and these are my favorites of the lot:. Links to this post. Saturday, November 29, 2014. Besides the three bull...
