Here’s to modern farming, so efficient in its way. Veal pens and battery hens that must be made to pay. Here’s to all the lorry drivers, all prepared to earn. Transporting frightened animals down a road of no return. Here’s to all the slaughtermen, with guts enough to do it. Butchering in the abattoir, bloody water running through it. So nice to eat.
