Obvious Flogs: December 2005
http://obviousflogs.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html
Dave Totten's personal voyage to the land of IT Fluency, and other Digital Governance issues. Thursday, December 15, 2005. Fluencey Mileston #10: Wikipedia. If there is any one thing I will take away from this course, it is probably a newfound respect for Wikipedia. It could be called nothing less than a "fluency milestone" when Piotr pulled up the entry for my parents' hometown, Talkeetna. The contents of an encyclopedia. Emboldened by this, I went out on a limb and corrected a typo in another article!

Dave Totten's personal voyage to the land of IT Fluency, and other Digital Governance issues. Friday, September 23, 2005. Fluency Milestone #2: HTML and markups. Reading Snyder's chapter on HTML really annoyed me at first, but in the days since I read it, it's actually had me thinking about things more than I had expected. Why couldn't I use the mouse? Wasn't this a Macintosh, after all? Or is the existence of these tools enough to put real web publishing out of reach for everyone but the technologists?

This Blog will journal some of random thoughts on Random things. It was initially started as a way to document coursework and milestones in my Fall 2005 Digital Governance course with Dr. Stuart Shulman. December 09, 2005. Milestone 10: Future Directions. My 10th fluency milestone reflects the culmination of what has been truly a great learning experience in the Digital Governance. Thank you Professor Shulman! Use of digital technology. Impact of digital technology. On the individual, the organization, a...

Patty's Fluency Blog: December 2005

Sunday, December 18, 2005. Milestone 12.more thoughts on Snyder. Here at Pitt during my first semester I took a class called "Introduction to Information Systems." A majority of what I read in the Snyder book was a repeat of material I had already covered. Again I feel it is meant to be an introduction and provide guidelines to what it takes to be considered "fluent".however vague that term is. Continuing on with my assessment of Chapters 8-10, 12, and 17. I had never been introduced to algorithms or alg...

Patty's Fluency Blog: October 2005
http://pattyflog.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 25, 2005. Okay so for this week we had the pleasure of reading Thomas Beierle's "Digital Deliberation: Engaging the Public Through Online Policy Dialogues". I have to tell you I read this article twice and then scratched my head at the thought of having to write a paper about it, but I guess I have to give it a shot. The entire time I was reading this article I was thinking about our last class when we went to the lab. A thread discussion was started and each of us was seated in fron...

Patty's Fluency Blog: November 2005
http://pattyflog.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 30, 2005. So today on the bus I was thinking about this whole digital governance thing. I was thinking about my own reasons for being so uninterested in governance (mainly political in nature) and if there were more actions that could be done from the comfort of my home behind a screen, would I? Posted by Patty @ 1:02 PM. Sunday, November 27, 2005. One of the issues I think of is that of health care. The price for medical treatment is enough to make your head spin. Especially ...I had...

Stu's Fluency Blog: March 2006

Sunday, March 12, 2006. The Coming Storm Over Mass E-mails. It seems as if every time I do a talk these days on e-rulemaking and the reserach problems we are tackling. At least one person wants to know whether all this is leading to a new set of rules governing speech. In the March 13, 2006 edition of The New York Times, we begin to see more concrete signs of a coming storm. Since so many organizations and for profit firms (ex., CTSG. We now face the possibility of having less free speech and more regula...

Dave Totten's personal voyage to the land of IT Fluency, and other Digital Governance issues. Friday, March 24, 2006. A tugboat at the Port of Valdez. This is an experiment in using Picasa to upload photos to Blogger. Not too shabby! This is a tugboat at the Port of Valdez. It is used to push the giant oil tankers out to sea and escort them out of Alaskan waters. Posted by David Totten at 4:37 PM. Thursday, March 09, 2006. But not me, baby! I have broadband and an $1800 computer in my house! To be eligib...

My Random Thoughts: September 2005
http://smoschella.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html
This Blog will journal some of random thoughts on Random things. It was initially started as a way to document coursework and milestones in my Fall 2005 Digital Governance course with Dr. Stuart Shulman. September 14, 2005. Milestone One: First Blog. 11:30 pm - Just got back from a long trip. This is my first attempt as posting a blog. Admittedly, I am somewhat skeptic about the usefulness of blogs. Do people simply post their thoughts in cyberspace in the hope that someone will read them? 3 Fun with HTML.
