Jolene Eats Here: Inn of the Seventh Ray, Topanga Canyon
http://joleneeatshere.blogspot.com/2011/01/inn-of-seventh-ray-topanga-canyon.html
Sunday, January 9, 2011. Inn of the Seventh Ray, Topanga Canyon. Some call the Inn of the Seventh Ray. The "most romantic restaurant in L.A.". I've been coming here for years, but this was my first time trying their weekend brunch. For $18 you can go through their brunch buffet once. For some higher price (I don't remember what) you can go back for more. We opted for the once-through and carefully constructed our plates to maximize the amount of food we took back to our table. Jolene Eats Here: October 2010
http://joleneeatshere.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 7, 2010. Test Kitchen: Marcel Vigneron. I just blogged about my recent experience at Test Kitchen on my other blog 365losangeles. But I'll be a little more critical in this post for all the foodies who might be interested. This past weekend, Top Chef alumni Marcel offered a six course menu for $55 per person. Kombu Cured Hamachi: Crispy Rice, Pineapple, Avocado. Scallobut: Flavors of puttanesca, artichoke. This dish was very clean and simple. A scallop and a halibut cheek sit next t...
Jolene Eats Here: Even Better Oven Fried Chicken
http://joleneeatshere.blogspot.com/2012/03/even-better-oven-fried-chicken.html
Friday, March 30, 2012. Even Better Oven Fried Chicken. I made oven fried chicken again, but this time dipped the drum sticks in buttermilk first, then a seasoned flour/breadcrumb mixture (flour, paprika, salt, pepper, breadcrumbs). I baked them in pyrex dishes containing a pat of melted butter on the bottom of the dish and then turned them half way through the cooking process. The breadcrumbs made them crunchier, and Brad declared them better than the other night's drumsticks. 365 LA. (my other blog).
Jolene Eats Here: Provencal Rack of Lamb
http://joleneeatshere.blogspot.com/2012/03/provencal-rack-of-lamb.html
Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Provencal Rack of Lamb. Tonight I made Provencal Rack of Lamb. But instead of potatoes I used parsnips that I picked up at the Farmers Market. It reminded me of a rustic meal that Katniss of the Hunger Games would enjoy. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 365 LA. (my other blog). Hunger Games Dinner: Katnisss Lamb Stew with Drie. Jolene Eats Here: August 2010
http://joleneeatshere.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 22, 2010. LA Mill Coffee Boutique, Silver Lake. We met up with our friends Ron and Fran (and Vincent! For brunch at LA Mill Coffee in Silver Lake. This past weekend. I am in love with this place! We started with house-made brioche doughnut holes. 6 for $3.50). The doughnut holes were so light, it was like eating sugar dusted clouds. They came with an airy vanilla whipped cream (additional .50). We were in heaven. Brad ordered the Steak and Eggs. I got the Arctic Char Tartare. I finally tri...

Keeping up with the Tanis: Blessed
http://kjtanis.blogspot.com/2012/03/blessed.html
Keeping up with the Tanis. Friday, March 30, 2012. So, with the Mega Millions. Jackpot hitting a record $640 million, it is hard not to think "what if." We started talking about it at work today, and I jumped on the phone to see if my brother could buy me a few tickets before the drawing tonight. Hey, my odds would be 1 in 176 million (which apparently makes it more likely that I would die from a bee sting. But it is more than the zero chance I have of winning if I don't even play! Pay off the house.

Keeping up with the Tanis. Tuesday, December 30, 2014. The Big News for 2014. Wow, 2014 is coming to a close already. So much has been going on, and I haven't had a chance to update this blog. The biggest thing to happen in the past year is this:. Welcome, Baby Kate! Our little bundle of joy has kept us busy, but we've enjoyed (mostly) every moment of it. There is so much to share that I created a separate blog. Just for her. Check it out to see how much she has grown in the past nine months!
Keeping up with the Tanis: Celebration of Blessings
http://kjtanis.blogspot.com/2011/06/celebration-of-blessings.html
Keeping up with the Tanis. Tuesday, June 14, 2011. The cousins on my mom's side have been doing a "line-up" ever since we were babies. As we grew up and went away to college, moved to the mainland, and became busy with work, it is rare that we get a complete line-up. We have a few pictures where there are "stand-ins" holding a headshot of the missing cousin. For the first time in a couple years, here is the complete line-up! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The food was delicious! A fantastic night to celebrate a fantastic year! More pictures posted here. Teach Me How to What!

Keeping up with the Tanis. Thursday, January 26, 2012. I've never been very good at keeping up with my blogs. A few of you may remember a Personal Finance Blog. That I started about 5 years ago. LV. 19/07/2010 at 3:05 AM. En reva...

Friday, April 6, 2012. Spicy Pumpkin and Miso Soup. This soup is hearty with just a hint of miso, and a nice spicy kick as it goes down. I used this. Recipe, but didn't put nearly as much basil as it called for, and used water instead of the soy milk. To accompany this pumpkin miso soup, I made a dish reminiscent of my childhood, stuffed cabbage rolls. Click here. Friday, March 30, 2012. Hunger Games Dinner: Katniss's Lamb Stew with Dried Prunes. Pieces of me
Monday, November 17, 2014. You Are Right Here. I just wanted to take a minute to show you all what I have been working on this week. It is a canvas that my niece wanted made for herself and her husband. She wanted to be reminded that, "You Are Right Where You Should Be," and she wanted to be reminded of it in gray and yellow. In order to save Lake Preston from being painted over, I had to alter my original design a bit but here is the background after several layers. Given my extreme dislike of cold and ...
