Jon Foster's Skydiving Photos. Click on a thumbnail for a larger view. I leave the plane with an instructor. The instructor lets me go when we're stable. And he moves round in front of me. Back to face the instructor. Back to face the instructor. Where did the instructor go to? To move forward slowly. And catch him up. And he runs away again! So I do some more forward movement. Until I catch him again. That's it, 2000 feet (10 sec) to go and nothing else I have to do except look at the camera.

The drogue (tiny parachute) is deployed to keep us right way up. Good view from up here! Thumbs up to the cameraman. You're meant to make sure your specs are securely fastened before. The instructor enjoys this too! Thumbs up from the instructor. Checking the altitude - 5000 feet, time for the parachute.

Jon Foster's Skydiving Photos. Click on a thumbnail for a larger view. Ready, get set, . This is not how you're meant to do a dive exit, I should have been facing the direction of flight. You go all over the place! Not a good freefall position. That's not too bad, if only my knees had been back a bit. Then I wouldn't have done this. When I get stable, I first have to do a backflip. (This one's slightly sideways! All the way over. And get stable again. Delta tracking - this is fast forward movement.

Jon Foster's Skydiving Page. This site has some pictures of my skydiving, for family and friends. For my first jump, I did a tandem at Headcorn Parachute Club. I was strapped to the front of the instructor and he had a parachute big enough for both of us. This is the easiest way to jump, and it's also completely safe. The instructor does all the work, and he knows what he's doing. As he said, "it's as easy as falling out of an aeroplane! And yes, we had a nice soft landing (sitting down, but still OK).
