T e r f e n o l - D Beta Speaker. Audio sculpture/sound installation/audio system. This piece consist of 8 metal plates in different size and thickness. They are mounted with transducer devices which makes the plates vibrate. The idea is that instead of using normal speakers with a more or less linear frequency response, the use of metal plates, which are in a way really bad speakers, result in very beautiful with complex microtonal drones. You just have to find the right frequencies for each plate.

Setup for generating acoustic drones. This setup was made to generate soundscapes for a headphone concert in Musikhuset Aarhus at Spor-festival 2010. The speakers play different frequencies which makes the metal plate resonate. The microphone is placed very close to the surface of the metal plate to grab the even the smallest vibrations and resonances. The acoustic sounds of the speakers mix with the resonance of the plate creating very deep and colorful drones.

I have spent some time during the summer building a new system for composing music. It is a bunch of stands that holds solenoids (electromagnetic pistons with a lever attached) and an object that makes a sound when the lever hits it. The solenoids can be controlled from maxMSP, using an arduino as interface. Here are the first prototypes. Here I am building and playing around with 9 psc. of the final design in the apartment. Roland CR-68 external trigger mod. I just finished this mod on the Roland CR-68 drum machine. I bought it several years ago, and always liked the sound of it, but never really used it, since it only features preprogrammed rythms. But now it has external trigger in for nine of it's eleven analog voices. The mod is based on Andrew Kilpatrick's cool MIDI-solution. Anyway, here's pics!
