Unlike a lens, which uses refraction to focus light, a zone plate uses diffraction; it’s basically just a concentric series of light and dark rings that create the image at the focal point via constructive interference. View the Global News video. In 2009, Jonathan Grossman, owner and founder of TheOffice.com was diagnosed with a very rare bone marrow disorder called Myelofibrosis. That destroys the body's ability to produce blood. Jonathan's only hope for survival was a bone marrow transplant. Sadly, in his 47th year, after a valiant and courageous battle with myelofibrosis, Jonathan passed away peacefully on Sunday August 30, 2009. Read more about Jonathan. August 30th, 2009.
