Tricopter – Motor Repair | Geoff Nicol

Avid Collector of Hobbies. Tricopter – Motor Repair. After my last crash the shaft on my rear tricopter motor was tweaked. Fortunately I gave each motor a spin manually before powering things on and noticed so I had opportunity to fix it. The motor was clearly rubbing and I imagine would have promptly self destructed had I turned it on. The motor is a NTM Prop Drive Series 28-30A 750kv / 140w. As an aside; the earlier part of the flight actually went quite well. Trying it in a fairly open field made ...

Avid Collector of Hobbies. Author Archives: Geoff Nicol. The Oatmeal should be spread out in a dish and placed in the over at 350*C for around 20-30 minutes. Stir around every 5 minutes. I’ve found it works best to do this the night before so it can cool back down to room temperature. I’d advise throwing in some rice hulls if fly sparging, I didn’t and very nearly had a stuck sparge. 105 - 1.07. 1012 - 1.018. 23 - 2.9. 48 - 6.5 %. Pale Malt (2 Row) US. Goldings, East Kent. Avid Collector of Hobbies. Bonsai – More tweaks, more crashes. This entry was posted in RC. September 25, 2013. Brought the new wing out to a field and gave it a go; seems to fly well! I moved the servo arms back one notch from neutral as the flaps seemed too low and I couldn’t trim enough to eliminate the problem. I also adjusted to 30% D/R on the remote which helped a lot in the later flights. This entry was posted in RC. September 17, 2013. Hobbyking Bonsai – Assembly. Required a few tweaks. The stock...

HackRF Lives! | Geoff Nicol
http://geoffnicol.com/2013/07/21/hackrf-lives
Avid Collector of Hobbies. I managed to get the hackrf going on a linux vm with gnuradio a week ago but getting it going on SDR#. Recently has proved a more compelling simple demo. I followed the rather thorough instructions. On superfro’s blog to get everything setup. As a next test I followed the RTL-SDR tutorial. On decoding Pocsag (pagers) quite successfully which was rather neat! Will be fun to try transmitting as well at some point but for a reception only situation this seems like a great start.

Avid Collector of Hobbies. Chicken Coop – Automatic Door. I decided our chickens needed an automated door to let them out of their coop and into a run through the day (and secure them at night). After a bit of research the Arduino Chicken Coop Controller. By Robot-Chicken on instructables looks like a good guideline. Code is available on github. A video of the maiden run on the door:. Avid Collector of Hobbies. Quanum DIY FPV – Fully Integrated Receiver. The Hobby King Quanum DIY FPV Goggle Set with Monitor. Is a cheap FPV headset but if you use the provided wiring with an external video receiver it ends up a bit cumbersome. To make it easier to use, I embedded a RX5800 video receiver right in the screen. Leaching power from an existing regulator. I insulated the screens pcb using some electricians tape and hot glued the video receiver into position. April 26, 2015. Proudly powered by...

Avid Collector of Hobbies. As my videos may have indicated; although my tricopter is working reasonably well my piloting could still use some work. I decided to get a mini/micro quadcopter that will work with my existing controller. To learn on as they are so light weight crashes don’t seem to bother them. After a bit of research the $18 diy quad. By dave1993 looks like a winning option. The recommended parts are:. WLtoys V939 RC Quadcopter Spare Parts PCB Receiving Board V939-05 $8.90. July 12, 2013.
