Jon Bellwood – Eccentric Explorer – Current Locale: Vietnam. Keep up with my ridiculous adventures. Archive for February 2011. When me Mam came to South East Asia: Part 3 of 3. February 25, 2011. When “Me Mam” came to visit South East Asia – Part 2 of 3. February 16, 2011. When “Me Mam” came to visit South East Asia – part 1 of 3. February 11, 2011. It’s always weird when you come back from a holiday, you spend ten days seeing things, poking around, being lazy, sunning yourself and lazing around and when...

Jon Bellwood – Eccentric Explorer – Current Locale: Vietnam. Keep up with my ridiculous adventures. Been Dreaming of this since I first played Sonic: Japan. I think its rather a long time since I blogged anything and there’s probably nobody left here listening but this blog is as much for me in the future to look back upon as it is for everyone else to read so I’ll go ahead anyway! Arriving in Tokyo I grab my bags as quick as possible (why am I always the last bag off the plane dammit! The next day was a...
Suzhou Planning Acrobats | Jon Bellwood - Eccentric Explorer - Current Locale: Vietnam
https://jonbellwood.wordpress.com/2011/04/23/suzhou-planning-acrobats
Jon Bellwood – Eccentric Explorer – Current Locale: Vietnam. Keep up with my ridiculous adventures. So the next day I was becoming more than a touch bored of Shanghai and. Its hawkers and hookers hassling me everytime I walked the streets. So. Upon reccomendation I decided to take a day trip to Suzhou, a place. Full of canals that calls itself the Venice of the East (I can quash. That one right now) but it promised a little more culture and a little. Less westerness so I jumped on it. Memoirs of a Geisha.

Jon Bellwood – Eccentric Explorer – Current Locale: Vietnam. Keep up with my ridiculous adventures. Archive for December 2010. Christmas and Christmas Eve a la Vietnam. December 29, 2010. I have returned to what is most likely an empty auditorium; the few readers I did have probably think the show has left town and moved elsewhere but it would be more apt to blame its absence on the NFL season and the general lack of interesting things in my day to day life; life […]. The Shen’z Hen. A bit about me.

Jon Bellwood – Eccentric Explorer – Current Locale: Vietnam. Keep up with my ridiculous adventures. Terracotta: Warriors and Weirdos. So after a less than wonderful flight I made it down to Xi’An which I’ve been excited about since I started planning my trip to China; I’ve wanted to see them for a long long time now. Thankfully Sam and Brendan saved me from this reality and I met up with them long before I was due to meet up with the weirdo (who we’ll get back to later). Getting there we went with the or...

Baker's Blues: Christmas is for football. Apparently not.
http://bakersblues.blogspot.com/2009/12/footballs-not-just-for-christmas.html
Ian Baker's take on sports journalism and the world of sport. Friday, 4 December 2009. Christmas is for football. Apparently not. Once upon a time Football League clubs scheduled plenty of matches around Christmas, Easter and the Bank Holidays. Peak times for peak attendances. Now it seems as if the league wants the cash-strapped clubs to play more matches on Tuesday nights in November and December in freezing temperatures. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I can't decide whether I'm looking forward to tonight's World Cup draw or not.
Baker's Blues: November 2009
http://bakersblues.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Ian Baker's take on sports journalism and the world of sport. Wednesday, 25 November 2009. If ever football can be confirmed as being out of touch with the masses, now is it. This in a country where you can get a bottle of beer for £1 and comfortably get a three-course meal in a restaurant for less than a tenner. So the next time you hear one of those Sepp Blatter speeches on what FIFA are doing for familes, the game, the community, the masses, ignore it. He'll only be talking claptrap. Why has the issue...
Baker's Blues: May 2009
http://bakersblues.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Ian Baker's take on sports journalism and the world of sport. Monday, 25 May 2009. We're not dead without Fred. I read in amazement that so many respected pundits and journalists suggested that England had no chance of regaining the Ashes without Andrew Flintoff. Amazed largely because of how dramatically England's bowling attack has improved without Freddie, since he pulled up in Antigua during the winter. And Tim Bresnan cannot be written off either. He showed at Chester-le-Street what he can do. I won...

Ian Baker's take on sports journalism and the world of sport. Friday, 4 December 2009. I can't decide whether I'm looking forward to tonight's World Cup draw or not. Live Live Live Life's a Banquet!: Throwing rocks
http://livelifesabanquet.blogspot.com/2011/04/throwing-rocks.html
Live Live Live Life's a Banquet! Musings about my life, hope they keep me sane and give you a chuckle! Wednesday, April 6, 2011. Today I had a lovely lunch and then watched a movie with my friend Nicole. After the movie we were walking along stretching our legs. I was heading home and Nicole was going to grab a xe om. He scurried away looking back towards us laughing at our expense, quite pleased with himself. Anytime, my friend, anytime! April 9, 2011 at 10:14 PM. I love it that you threw rocks at him!

Live Live Live Life's a Banquet!: Giant Mirror
http://livelifesabanquet.blogspot.com/2011/04/giant-mirror.html
Live Live Live Life's a Banquet! Musings about my life, hope they keep me sane and give you a chuckle! Tuesday, April 5, 2011. I have a giant mirror in my room at my guesthouse of which is aptly named L'Amore. The guesthouse, not the mirror. I freak myself out at night when I catch things out of the corner of my eye. Is this room haunted or do I have floaters in my retinas? Thank God I'm so nearsighted or I would wake up and just see my reflection in the giant mirror. That would be a rude awakening!
Baker's Blues: March 2009
http://bakersblues.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Ian Baker's take on sports journalism and the world of sport. Tuesday, 24 March 2009. The first overseas cricket tour I ever watched on television was West Indies v England from 1998. Sabina Park, Jamaica - where Mike Atherton, Alec Stewart, Mark Butcher and Graham Thorpe all received some sickening blows. And my two-week trip to see the Barbados and Trinidad tests certainly did not disappoint - even if the cricket was less than riveting. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Ian Baker, 28, is a freelance sports j...
Baker's Blues: A Grim day for football
http://bakersblues.blogspot.com/2010/05/grim-day-for-football.html
Ian Baker's take on sports journalism and the world of sport. Monday, 10 May 2010. A Grim day for football. With a rare Saturday off, I decided to progress with my ambition to "do the 92" (attend all Football League and Premier League grounds - I'm currently on 80-odd). My destination was the Pirelli Stadium for Burton Albion v Grimsby Town, a match that the visitors needed to win to maintain their 99-year Football League status. First, when Greg Pearson had given Burton the lead somewhat against the run...
Baker's Blues: February 2009
http://bakersblues.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Ian Baker's take on sports journalism and the world of sport. Tuesday, 24 February 2009. Graeme Swann triumphantly declared to BBC Sport today:. I have an 85% chance of being fit for Thursday.". What I want to know is what formula Swann used to calculate that probability. Friday, 13 February 2009. Let's hope an under-prepared wicket can create a result instead of the usual flat-track draw. Tuesday, 10 February 2009. True, Antigua's Recreation Ground has been replaced by the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium bu...

Saturday, 25 June 2011. Even if everything went well for Storm and his upbringing was a success (even though I'm not sure how you would define success in this case) I very much doubt that he would be any happier than had he received a traditional or normal upbringing. Therefore an exercise such as the one his Parents are embarking on is entirely fruitless and futile in the grand scheme of things. Having said that I wish Storm the absolute best and every success in the future! Friday, 11 March 2011. Some ...
