Ramblings from the Road: life on the festival circuit

Ramblings from the Road: life on the festival circuit. I never thought I’d be a folk hero…. March 1, 2010. I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, a great seamstress. I wish I were; it would make my life easier. But, alas, this is not the case. Recently, courtesy of Anne (with whom we are staying), I discovered Threads Magazine. Between my adventures in the Land of Draping and this periodical, I feel marginally more comfortable in attempting to conceptualize my next Maid Marian dress. Unfortunately ...

What To Say… | Ramblings from the Road: life on the festival circuit

https://jonellfranz.wordpress.com/2010/02/26/what-to-say

Ramblings from the Road: life on the festival circuit. I never thought I’d be a folk hero…. What To Say…. February 26, 2010. It has been a busy week. The highlight of it all was our visit to Butterfly World. Lou lent me his spare Canon 5D (he recently upgraded) and a beautifully fast 85mm lens. Apart from the body being so heavy (I am used to my little Rebel) and needing to get used to the different controls, it was awesome! I would rather be at the zoo. From → Mid-Week Happenings. Early Mornings and Bratwurst. | Ramblings from the Road: life on the festival circuit

Ramblings from the Road: life on the festival circuit. I never thought I’d be a folk hero…. Early Mornings and Bratwurst. January 14, 2010. Today began with a glorious sunrise. The best part is knowing I can barbecue without a propane grill. It is something I have wanted to try for some time; there is something wonderful about food that has been cooked over charcoal. And now that I know I can, I want to do it again! Perhaps steak or chicken next week… marinated, of course… Mmm. Larr; Avatar Wednesday.

Ramblings from the Road: life on the festival circuit. I never thought I’d be a folk hero…. FlaRF Miami ’10, Weekend Two. January 17, 2010. Saturday was beautiful, but extremely windy. I suppose it is to be expected when you are on the beach. And I know that if the wind had stopped, it would probably have been unbearably hot (I am a wimp, I know). But sheesh. It was windy! Then Sunday happened. Our first show went well, we were looking forward to those afternoon shows again. Until the rain started. You a...

Ramblings from the Road: life on the festival circuit. I never thought I’d be a folk hero…. Run-In With a Lizard. February 22, 2010. Tags: FlaRF Deerfield Beach. Patrick and I came home today from our errands to find a lizard in the hallway. It was just a little one, and from what I understand this is a normal occurrence here in Florida. Still It was a lizard in the hallway. We put our stuff down and Patrick tried very slowly to catch it to put it outside. The lizard did not agree with this plan. New car...

Bake, baby, bake. Twitter Tang Truffle Trio. Tonight, I made truffles. I didn’t just make truffles, I made truffles with TANG. Why would you do that, Chef Z? 8221; might be the response of you, the Hardcore Reader. And I have but one answer:. Because the Internet told me to. For those not aware, I am an avid Tweeter. Judge all you want, but I just happen to love that 140 character goodness. One day, while browsing my Twitter feed, I see a tweet by the very awesome @awonger. My first thought was to break ...

Bake, baby, bake. Every now and then, you find yourself with a selection of leftover veggies and a need for dinner. And maybe you have time, but not the motivation to go the store. And maybe you are SICK AND TIRED OF STIR FRY ALREADY. And that, dear readers, is how we came upon tonight’s recipe, what I’ve dubbed the “Mushroom-Onion Pie” for lack of a better term. It takes a while to make, but it’s a flexible recipe and a sure crowd-pleaser. And readers, it is DELICIOUS. 4 portobello mushroom caps. Remove...

A Girl from the Evergreen State blazing a new trail in the Green Mountains. Feb 25th, 2013 at 5:55 PM. Late last fall, I was asked by the president of Vermont-NEA (my states teachers union, part of the National Education Association) to attend a Womens Leadership Summit - a training aimed at improving leadership skills of those of us in the rank and file. The fact that this training was being held in Florida in February sealed the deal.I mean, really.do I need an excuse? So, without really knowing where ...
