Props to Pedalhead for creating a fantastic racecourse and great race atmosphere. The course was a bit lacking in hills (for a ski area) but it made up for it with sharply undulating terrain and tight and twisty singletrack. Wicked! Sunday, 31 August 2014. Jon had us over for a barbecue. The only condition was that first we were going riding. We were told portions of this were impassable, but we had high ambitions. Monday, 4 May 2015. What makes mountain biking hard? Well, a little of everything. Faded on the climbs on last lap and I ended up 6th. Which I guess is fine for me actually. So other than that ancillary stuff, back to the question - what makes mountain biking hard? It challenges all parts of your energy output ability:. Secondly, this one did have a reasonably defined section of downhill to rest, but the two climbs and the "flat" headwind back to the start finish had nowhere to rest.

Sunday, 5 April 2015. It's my first weekend back to riding. Three solid days, but not as easy miles as friends in warmer climates. It was headwinds, snow, slush, and I think a weekend high of 8C.
