The most valuable lesson of teacher's college was not how they trained me to become a great teacher. the most important thing i learned was the pros and cons of teaching in a public high school. as my year of teacher's college approached an end, i began to change my mind about the teaching profession. Mandatory attendance, especially at 8:30am.

My thoughts of this new position are as such:. Excellent commute (10-15 min, no highway driving required). Good salary and benefits (including a health spending acct, which can be used to pay for the gym located 1 minute away). Work is challenging and lots of opportunity to learn, whether in transferrable skills or industry specific knowledge.

That is the distance from my house to my workplace. my house to my church. a distance that i drive in my car on a regular basis. and i wouldn't do it any other way. Not always so for some others. That is a distance far enough for pain, heavy breathing, and needing sheer will just to push forward. at least for me. Who doesn't like glory? Can't we just be trying to get from A to B?
