Shelley's Rickshaw Blog: DAY EIGHT - SAGAR TO KHAJARAHO - 208km
http://shelleysrickshaw.blogspot.com/2009/09/day-eight-sagar-to-khajaraho-208km.html
Tuesday, 22 September 2009. DAY EIGHT - SAGAR TO KHAJARAHO - 208km. We promised to take better care of the lil lady today, trying to avoid the right tyre hitting any potholes in particular as she’s now a bit lopsided, poor love. Driving through Sagar town was nice, the scenery we faced after leaving was a treat too. It’s such a privilege to be so far removed from “Western civilisation”, with its high-rise buildings and stressed out people. Home now, seems very far away indeed. I think we all felt a bit s...

Shelley's Rickshaw Blog: DAY TWELVE - MAU TO LUMBHINI
http://shelleysrickshaw.blogspot.com/2009/09/day-twelve-mau-to-lumbhini.html
Sunday, 27 September 2009. DAY TWELVE - MAU TO LUMBHINI. We were on the road at 7.30am today, gladly leaving Mau behind us, and hoping that our remaining time in India would paint a better lasting picture. Apparently we were nearly thrown out of the skanky hotel as one of the owners came in last night, saw a couple of us on the bed, then clocked the cameras and thought that we were going to be making a porno! The ‘shoot’! It’s been a long and sweaty day and it seems that whenever I dare wear white,...

Katie's Rickshaw Blog: DAY EIGHT - SAGAR TO KHAJARAHO
http://katiesrickshaw.blogspot.com/2009/09/day-eight-sagar-to-khajaraho.html
Monday, 21 September 2009. DAY EIGHT - SAGAR TO KHAJARAHO. Such a good day, stress free, the rickshaw was blissfully taking to the roads of India with no little dramas and we arrived to Khajaraho, the land of Karma Sutra before sunset. Woo Hoo! So of course we all found a way to celebrate by watching the sunset go down over the temples with a few Kingfisher beers. Well actually it was our cameraman Steve Moro that stopped and found the magic of our India travels for the day. What's it all about? DAY SIX ...

Shelley's Rickshaw Blog: DAY TEN - REWA TO VARANASI - 243km
http://shelleysrickshaw.blogspot.com/2009/09/day-ten-rewa-to-varanasi-243km.html
Wednesday, 23 September 2009. DAY TEN - REWA TO VARANASI - 243km. Every tide has an ebb and flow, every mountain has a high and low and today it was time for our low. We pulled over and got some shelter underneath the tree and ate the box of maltesers that I had saved for,… well, a rainy day and eventually convinced the crew to give us the spare tarpaulin cover as Katie and I in particular were absolutely drenched! Instead of having a late lunch, Katie and I decided to have a catnap in one of the crew ca...

Thursday, 8 October 2009. DAY FOURTEEN - TANSEN TO POKHARA. As the clock struck 6am my eyes couldn’t rest any longer, due to a mix of anxiety about our final day in the rickshaw and a headache from the local whiskey we knocked back the last night. So I thought it was best to get up and out the door for a morning jog around Tanzen. – Best idea I’d had in 12hrs. Women’s health magazine why don’t you know about this already, it makes running in the morning enjoyable! This is the last time however that we wi...

Katie's Rickshaw Blog: DAY NINE - KHAJARAHO TO REWA
http://katiesrickshaw.blogspot.com/2009/09/day-nine-khajaraho-to-rewa.html
Monday, 21 September 2009. DAY NINE - KHAJARAHO TO REWA. What else happened today? Oh Katie started her photo diary today of the, “pants of India”. Which is simply a few hundred or so snaps of the fashionista trousers sported by males here in India. The Buddhist temples of Karma Sutra in Khajaraho were awesome! The graphic statues in the temples and the on the sides of the exterior walls were such a good laugh and also very arousing! On the road again and all went well, painted birthday party faces on.

Katie's Rickshaw Blog: DAY THIRTEEN - LUMBHINI TO TANSEN
http://katiesrickshaw.blogspot.com/2009/10/day-thirteen-lumbhini-to-tansen.html
Thursday, 8 October 2009. DAY THIRTEEN - LUMBHINI TO TANSEN. Waking up in the birthplace of Buddha and in a real hotel resort has its benefits, not only do you feel clean and renewed but you also know that because it’s a tourist hub and the breakfast will be decent with actual toast! 8211; Not this cardboard with red sugar smear we’ve been consuming over the past two weeks. So after brekkie we headed down the road and found ourselves a cycle rickshaw to jump on and take us to the holy temple where Buddha...

Shelley's Rickshaw Blog: DAY ELEVEN - VARANASI TO MAU - 114km
http://shelleysrickshaw.blogspot.com/2009/09/day-eleven-varanasi-to-mau-114km.html
Sunday, 27 September 2009. DAY ELEVEN - VARANASI TO MAU - 114km. 430 am. That’s what time the alarm clock went off today and it felt like I had just a blink of sleep. Katie and I were walking around the hotel room like extras in Night of the Living Dead, struggling to make ourselves look half human for our sunrise boat trip along the Ganges. This time though, Varanassi had lost part of its magic. I think you have to explore this place on ground level, not just on the Ganges from afar. Plus, as si...The r...

Thursday, 1 October 2009. DAY FOURTEEN - TANSEN TO POKHARA. This morning we woke up to the spectacular view of the mountains and the fresh, crisp air. We could see the clouds on lower ground and see the snowy mountain tops in the distance.ahhh,. what could possibly go wrong now? We stopped off for chai, where Gordon spotted a man with a sugar cane cart, selling the juice. Well, I've never tried it, so we ordered one each and slowly lifted the glass to our lips. One sip later and a face that could...We ha...
