Jennifer’s current outlook(s) on school:. It is pretty much inevitable that I am going to be attending this school for the next 180 days or so. Therefore, since I am a human and humans are able to control their emotions by the way that they think, I should choose to feel okay about being at school. I should never choose to feel bad about the inevitable. I can use school to distract myself from things that would normally depress me. Life is stupid anyways.

Newness is deceptive. Always. The fact that she is an upperclassmen and feels (although she is a self proclaimed egalitarian and would never admit to it) excited at the prospect of finally being near the top of the grade / age hierarchy.

It is after school and Matt and Jennifer are drinking smoothies. They are sitting on a small hill in front of Jennifer’s house. ]. Are we going to feel severely depressed this winter, Matt says, his voice quivering slightly. Jennifer tries to process the question by thinking about tommorow, and the next day, and the day after that and mentally projects herself into what she is imagining as roughly five months from now.
