Notes from the Chamber: Preview to Day 1: Haydn times 6
http://josephinevains.blogspot.com/2011/07/preview-to-day-1-haydn-times-6.html
Notes from the Chamber. Impressions from the 6th Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition July 9-17, 2011. Friday, 8 July 2011. Preview to Day 1: Haydn times 6. It was pointed out to me (with abject horror) by one of the international piano trios that of the 8 trios, 4 are playing the same Haydn. Same repertoire in Round 1. It will all come down to how they 'wear' the repertoire, and in many ways it's the points of difference in interpretation that will spark the dialogue over cups of tea in...

http://josephinevains.blogspot.com/2011/07/whos-scared-of-mozart.html
Notes from the Chamber. Impressions from the 6th Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition July 9-17, 2011. Wednesday, 13 July 2011. Who's scared of Mozart? This post is also available on the Limelight Magazine website. Or is it purely strategic, given Mozart is notoriously difficult to pull off? As an older, wiser, more experienced performer Mozart just doesn't loom as large as it used to. A look at the string quartets reveals a similar trend with only Hungary's Kelemen Kvartett opting to go wit...
Notes from the Chamber: The Jury
http://josephinevains.blogspot.com/2011/07/jury.html
Notes from the Chamber. Impressions from the 6th Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition July 9-17, 2011. Friday, 8 July 2011. Will our 8 young violists feel the heat knowing that 2 representatives of their noble instrument are on the jury? And to finish, the least offensive viola joke I could find at short notice. ADVERTISEMENT: Established string quartet requires two violinists and a 'cellist. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Whos scared of Mozart? Whats in their name. 5 days to go.
