Curtis spent four months recovering in hospitals in Burma and India. He arrived home on June 15, 1945, the day that Daddy was presented Jack’s Medal of Honor. He then spent time at Brook’s Army Medical center in San Antonio. On September 10, 1945, Curtis was presented the Silver Star. The citation read:. Commando Hall of Honor.
