Joseph Ours' Blog: Counter to "No Spec=Waste of Time"
http://josephours.blogspot.com/2009/07/counter-to-no-specwaste-of-time.html
My thoughts on the craft of Testing. Friday, July 17, 2009. Counter to "No Spec=Waste of Time". What’s a QA team without a spec? A goddamned nuisance and a waste of time, that’s what. The author rants about Elder Games' Asheron’s Call 2 (an MMO) defect issues more than anything else. The author's opening sentence points to his emotional bias in the succeeding thoughts. Pretty powerful emotional stuff there. Distilling his gripes, I find he takes issue with:. 2) Too many severe bugs released to production.

My thoughts on the craft of Testing. Thursday, April 9, 2009. Quality is meeting requirements. I was at a client site today and I saw one of those yellow diamond signs hanging from a suction cup; but this one didn't say "Baby on board" it said, "Quality is meeting requirements". . This got me to thinking, we all talk about quality, but what does it mean in the real world? Here are some quotes of some great thinkers. What would someone mean by the quality of a shoe? Or that it takes a shine well? Narrowl...

My thoughts on the craft of Testing. Friday, March 27, 2009. The Exception Proves the Rule. I often hear people speaking in idioms, such as “a blessing in disguise” or “it’s raining cats and dogs”, but one idiom that I find interesting is “the exception proves the rule.”. This particular idiom is actually useful in the field of software testing. To understand how it may be useful in our world, it is necessary to understand the epistemology of the phrase. Exceptio probat regulam in casibus non exceptis.

My thoughts on the craft of Testing. Tuesday, October 23, 2012. My Lessons Learned from the STPCon 2012 Test Competition. Of his observations can be found at . I participated in the competition and have my own thoughts on the competition. For capturing steps to recreate our defects during our exploratory testing sessions, as well as my approach to basic web site security testing. Although we didn’t do pure peering, it is obvious how valuable the peering approach is. Lastly, I reflected on the competition...

Creator of Rapid Software Testing. Skip to primary content. Competent People and Conference Keynotes. April 11, 2015. My colleague and friend Anne-Marie Charrett has a thing about women. A) She is one. B) She feels that not enough of them are speaking at testing conferences. See also Fiona Charles’ post on this subject. There is another reason I support their cause, though. It’s related to the fact that we people are not. In other words, it isn’t only whom we like that motivates us, but also what s...
Exploratory Testing 3.0 | James Bach’s Blog
http://www.satisfice.com/blog/archives/1509
Creator of Rapid Software Testing. Skip to primary content. Exploratory Testing 3.0. March 16, 2015. Authors’ note: Others have already made the point we make here: that exploratory testing ought to be called testing. In fact, Michael said that about tests. In 2009, and James wrote a blog post in 2010 that seems to say that about testers. Aaron Hodder said it quite directly. In 2011, and so did Paul Gerrard. While we have long understood and taught that all testing is exploratory (here’s an example.

Jose Photos - Welcome to My View
On a misty morning I woke up to see this rose bush with a good amount of morning dew. It looked like it had rained overnight, but this moisture was solely from the morning foggy conditions. We are currently suffering through drought conditions in California, so I guess I show be happy for any moisture evening if it’s just a misty morning. Let There Be Cake. I have to thank Flour Girl Bakery in Cloverdale for this cake capture. They were one of the many vendors at the Bacigalupi Family‘s 50th Annivers...

My thoughts on the craft of Testing. Wednesday, November 6, 2013. A Tester's Perspective: What Went Wrong with Healthcare.gov? By now everybody has heard of the healthcare.gov website rollout. By all accounts this initial rollout has been a colossal failure. In this multi-part blog post we will examine some of the key issues that have caused this rollout to go awry.
